In the process of changing my career path and becoming a Business Analyst

Embarking on my journey as a business analyst, my salary began at around 7.7 LPA, gradually reaching around 8.8 LPA after 3 years of consistent 5-star ratings and earning the title of "Most Passionate Employee" (a whopping 14% increase, cue applause). Beyond the financial aspect, I give importance to career growth (who doesn't). That is why this is a tale worth sharing. Throughout my tenure, I remained dedicated to the role of a Business Analyst WITHOUT transitioning to a senior position, often putting in over 10 hours daily. In the pre-Covid era, the routine involved completing 8.5 hours within the wing, all breaks EXCLUDED (bathroom, lunch, coffee breaks), of course! Despite the challenges, I believe in acknowledging both the positives and negatives. The learnings have been profound, shaping my skills and resilience. I take pride in my growth and am grateful for the lessons that have sculpted my career. My expectation was that the company would recognise my work and compensate me for my efforts. Recognise they did, but compensate they couldn't. Maybe because that is all they can afford. I should have known that I had already moved above the benchmark set by the company and I was better elsewhere. Opening myself to the market brought a flood of exceptional opportunities. From that point forward, it's been a journey of continuous progress, and I can't help but chuckle at the realization of why did I wait? My experience taught me the importance of self-worth and the journey of standing up for oneself. Working on your passion and making a difference always precedes money; it makes you market-worthy. It is in our hands to recognise our worth and move up the ladder rather than expect the surroundings to act for us. It is my sincere hope that sharing this experience resonates with others navigating their careers, encouraging them to RECOGNISE THEIR TRUE VALUE EARLY!

I've just completed an immersive Financial Analyst Job Simulation course on Forage! This hands-on journey has equipped me with invaluable skills and insights into real-world financial analysis scenarios. Throughout the course, I delved deep into various aspects of financial analysis, from conducting thorough market research to crafting data-driven insights and recommendations. Each simulation challenged me to apply my knowledge in practical scenarios, honing my analytical abilities and decision-making skills. I'm now better equipped to navigate complex financial landscapes, interpret data effectively, and provide strategic recommendations to drive business growth. Excited to leverage these new skills and make meaningful contributions as a Financial Analyst! I'm excited to share that I got promoted at SUN and will relocate to Philadelphia to join the Trading & Risk team as a data scientist. After 2,000+ hours of coding, I've learned it's easy to mislead with data. Cherry-picking rows to add or drop, calculating misleading percentages, overemphasizing statistical significance, and misrepresenting visuals can create mathematically correct but practically misleading insights. Lying with data is easy; what's difficult is pairing the right questions with sound statistical methods. So here's a better approach: 1) define the problem, 2) reframe the problem through different perspectives (how does this problem look for different teams?), 3) construct a hypothesis, 4) select a method, 5) acknowledge the method's limitations and assumptions, 6) test results, and 7) decide to maintain or change your view based on the evidence. I'm happy to work for a company that promotes intellectual honesty and can't wait to give my all in my new role! 😊
