Reflecting on the Southeast Asia Tech Outlook Forum in Manila, June 18th I was honored to deliver a keynote at the Southeast Asia Tech Outlook Forum, organized by SPARK by CIO Academy Asia This forum is a highlight of the National ICT Summit Philippines 2024, themed “Digital Governance: Navigating the Future.” The event, held in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Chief Information Officers’ Forum (CIOF), and the Chief Information Officers’ Forum Foundation (CIOFF), brought together visionary leaders and experts to discuss the future of digital governance. In my keynote, I shared best practices on leveraging AI for better citizen engagement, especially in the context of how digital government can better relate to your citizens/ voters. Here are some key points: 1. **Engaging Digital-Savvy Citizens**: As our population becomes more digitally savvy, it’s crucial for digital governments to harness AI to engage citizens effectively. With elections on the horizon, understanding and meeting the digital behaviors and expectations of Gen X, Gen Y, and Gen Z voters is paramount. They seek personalized content and convenience through an inclusive digital government app. 2. **Understanding AI in Digital Government**: The journey begins with comprehending the digital behaviors of various voter profiles. Our citizens are more mobile and digitally adept than ever, expecting seamless interaction with government services. 3. **Mitigating Risks Associated with Gen AI**: We must be vigilant about the risks posed by Gen AI, particularly deepfakes and identity security threats. It’s essential to tackle issues like injection attacks via compromised terminals and adopt robust techniques to mitigate them. 4. **Exploring AI Use Cases**: Intelligent customer service powered by Gen AI is just one of the many exciting possibilities we can explore. The future of digital governance is brimming with potential. In summary, we need to build better brakes to go faster**. Security is an area where we must fight Gen AI with Gen AI. How do we use Gen AI tools to turbocharge our cyber defense, enhance our pen testing, and rethink our security layers? Speed is of the essence – we must detect threats faster and respond even quicker.
