Every year we at Skai hold a hackathon, and every time it impresses with its ideas. Here are a few little things that can be useful 🙂 💡 How to Find a Winning Idea for Your Next Hackathon! 🚀 Participating in a hackathon can be an exhilarating experience, but finding that one game-changing idea can feel overwhelming. Here are some tips to spark your creativity and help you land on an idea that stands out: ✅ Solve a Real Problem 🛠️ Look around your daily life or industry trends. What are the pain points people or businesses are facing? A solution to a pressing issue often has a higher impact. ✅ Leverage Emerging Technologies 🌐 Consider technologies like Generative AI, clouds technologies. Even if you’re not an expert, hackathons are a great opportunity to experiment with something new and exciting. ✅ Simplicity is Key 🎯 Don’t overcomplicate your idea. The best hacks are often simple but effective. Focus on building a minimum viable product (MVP) that can demonstrate real value. ✅ Think About Scalability 📈 Is your idea something that can be expanded or scaled in the future? Judges and potential investors are often drawn to solutions that can grow. ✅ Collaborate and Brainstorm 🤝 Great ideas often come from collaborative thinking. Don’t hesitate to bounce ideas off your team members or even seek feedback from others in your network. ✅ Stay Passionate ❤️ Choose an idea that excites you. The hackathon effect never ceases to amaze me. I’ve participated in 10s of different hackathon events, and each time, there's one constant: self-proclaimed projects move so much faster! When developers are highly motivated, understand the value deeply, and fully grasp every element of the requirements, the results are incredible. Last week, we had a system integration hackathon at SANDS Partners. We wanted to test if a fully enabled AI developer could accelerate the process. And the results? Not as clear-cut as you might think. Both teams completed their requirements within the event. Tasks that would normally take two weeks in a production environment were finished in less than six hours. This showcases how dramatically different the work of a developer can be when external factors are removed. Reflecting on past hackathons, it's clear that strong motivation and a deep understanding of the project make a huge difference. Observing how much fun every hackathon induces in its participants always reminds me how lucky I am to do what I’m doing. So, what did we learn? AI is a fantastic tool. It can write code snippets, guide you when you forget the syntax, and handle junior-level tasks efficiently. You could almost compare this to the fights between Neo and Agent Smith, another famous example of AI vs. Human. They both had great technique, amazing strength, and unbeaten will – but those fights never really gave any resolution. They were fast, effective, but really just a show, lacking substance. What made the difference was the creativity and willingness to explore new paths that ultimately changed the position of both the AI and Humans. But beyond that? An experienced, business-savvy, domain-expert developer will outpace any standalone AI. At least for now. However, it's worth noting that you could design an environment where AI excels – the scalability across different customers remains a challenge. PS.
