This morning, amid 8 or so panels crammed into the plenary time, we heard from Catherine Coleman Flowers, Dr. Jalonne L. White-Newsome, and Rachel Ramirez on #environmentaljustice. To elevate a few of their most compelling points:
1. "Fifteen minutes is not enough to cover all of environmental justice." Yes - let's #sharethestage, CEOs!
2. "Our economic paradigms encourage [community dividing] injustice... infrastructure bypasses marginalized communities who are so close but don't have" the access and accountability that many of us are privileged to have. How can we ensure critical services like energy access, clean water and functional sanitation, and fresh food make it to ALL communities?
3. We are "ignoring communities that are poor, ignoring #immigrant communities, ignoring #rural communities, anyone THEY think doesn't think have a voice." Meanwhile, the #trauma of #climatedisasters creates a lasting fear in these communities when they experience, for instance, 5 floods in 2 years.
Equity of access and equity of accountability matter.

Three reasons why human-centered supply chain management is crucial as climate risks escalate, from my wise Stantec colleagues:
1. Climate-induced phenomena such as displacement of communities (climate refugees), pandemics, and food insecurity disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, exacerbating human rights challenges.
2. Natural disasters, floods, and the spread of vector-borne diseases pose substantial threats to supply chain operations, with profound implications for human rights, including compromised shelter, restricted mobility for climate refugees, and disrupted labor markets.
3. The deployment of new infrastructure may exacerbate social inequalities and leave vulnerable communities behind, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to safeguard worker and community well-being.
