Can taking riboflavin reduce migraine headaches? Mitochondrial dysfunction is thought to play a causal role in some types of migraine. Because riboflavin is required for mitochondrial function, researchers are studying whether taking riboflavin can prevent or treat migraine headaches. A few small studies have found evidence of a beneficial effect of riboflavin supplements on migraine headaches in adults and children, but other studies have not. Very fascinating! I would love to see more research in this area. I have a family member that has chronic migraines and have tried just about everything under the sun without much success.
