The definition of multicultural education or multiculturalism education is a method that celebrates differences between cultures while challenging all forms of discrimination in education. When applied to education, the term multi-cultural can be defined as the inclusion of the vision that different human societies have about the world. Multicultural education is a method in which students are exposed to these different visions throughout their education. The broad purpose of this method is that students will learn how various cultures perceive certain aspects of life, such as mathematics, politics, religion, and art. There are several main objectives of the multicultural approach to education, but the overarching desire is to increase one's cosmopolitanism. Goals of the Multicultural Approach There are two primary goals of a multicultural education: celebrating all cultures and challenging all forms of discrimination, including in the workplace, educational spaces, public environments, and other places. Stated and implied goals from multicultural education programs throughout the world include: 1.Empowerment of students and their guardians 2.Increase in cultural pluralism 3.Expanded knowledge about many cultures, groups, and societies 4.Professional practice that is increasingly guided by increased multicultural knowledge Increased civic action
