The Incredible Growth story of Starbucks (UNBELIEVABLE)! From a small coffee shop to a Global Coffee Giant. ☕ ☕ ☕ 1️⃣ In 1971, Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker, and Zev Siegl opened a small coffee bean roaster and retailer. It was called Starbucks. It was opened in Seattle's (USA) iconic Pike Place Market. Initially, they focused on sourcing High Quality, ethically sourced coffee beans. 2️⃣ Howard Schultz (Former CEO of Starbucks) visited Milan in the 1980s and was inspired by the Italian coffeehouse culture. He joined Starbucks in 1982. In 1987, he opened the first Starbucks location outside of Pike Place and solidified the "Coffeehouse" concept. 3️⃣ This launched Starbucks rapid success across the US. Schultz focused on 4 things- ✔ Customer Experience over Profits ✔ High Quality Coffee Beans ✔ Training baristas to learn Customer Orders and their Names ✔ Live music & books By 1990, Starbucks had 165 stores generating $93M in revenue. 4️⃣ Experimenting with new drinks like Frappuccinos and food kept the brand fresh. Strategic partnerships with companies like PepsiCo leveraged their distribution networks. Providing Wifi since 2008. Starbucks also pioneered mobile payment through apps like mobile "order & pay". 5️⃣ Starbucks now has over 32,000 stores worldwide generating $24B in annual revenue. According to me, these are the 3 key Take-Away-Lessons from Starbucks' journey: ⭐ Put Customers first (Trained baristas who know the customers names builds strong relationships) ⭐ Continuously Innovate (Innovation sustains a brands relevance) ⭐ Strategic Expansion (Partnerships with PepsiCo aided expansion by leveraging established networks) Let me know in the comments if there are any other lessons we can take away from Starbucks. I am sure there are many!
