Assumed Constraints What are your assumed constraints?  In parts of the east where they use elephants as domestic animals they have a particular practice to keep the extremely large animals under control.  Starting from when they are very young and still small enough to control they will put a large chain around their ankle connected to a post so that they stay in a particular spot.  At the beginning they will pull at the chain and try to wander away, but as they learn there is nothing they can do, they will get to a point where as soon as they feel the chain on their ankle, they stop moving.  Once the trainers see this they will move to the next stage, they switch out the heavy chain for a thick rope.  In the first stages, whenever there is a change, the elephant will again try to pull away.  Yet as the stages progress, the restraint gets less, and the reaction becomes absolute.  In the end, all the owner has to do is wrap a piece of twine around the ankle of the massive adult elephant, and it will stand in place.  The elephant just assumes it won’t be able to move. What is the twine around your ankle?  If you ever catch yourself saying, “I can’t do that.” Stop… take a least a moment to make sure it is actually true.  More often than not we are more capable than we let ourselves believe.
