Although there is still progress to be made, women’s representation on public company boards continues to grow. Our 2024 Michigan Women’s Leadership Report, created in partnership with Wayne State University - Mike Ilitch School of Business, measures the progress of women in Michigan public companies and illustrates trends taking place nationally. An October 2023 report from The Conference Board reported that 86% of S&P 500 corporate boards had three or more women directors, up from 47% in 2018. Ten (91%) of Michigan’s 11 S&P 500 companies had three or more directors in 2023, up from four (36%) in 2018.
