How can we tackle the rise of chronic disease in Australia? Policymakers, funding bodies and academia must adopt and fund a dual approach that identifies and addresses the many risk factors for chronic disease, as well as supporting the collaborations and systemic changes that are needed to support implementation for broad public health impact. That’s the message from the Guest Editors of the new special issue of our peer-reviewed journal, Public Health Research & Practice, focused on collaborative partnerships for prevention. The articles in this issue explore key themes in preventive health, including collaborations to address the determinants of health, to support research impact and to instigate system change across areas ranging from tobacco-related harm to obesity, science communication and falls in older Australians. We thank the partners who produced this issue with us – the Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact (CERI), a joint initiative between The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre and National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
