Patient-centricity! Something everyone talks about. Something a lot is written on about. Yet nothing that defines patient-centricity comprehensively and more importantly, what it means to different people. In the spirit of this giving (and asking) festive season, I have a small request 😁 Together with Professor Dean Ho and Yoann Sapanel of National University of Singapore’s The Institute for Digital Medicine (WisDM) and co authors of the recently and best selling book, Medicine Without Meds, a group of us are working together on a position paper on #digitaltherapeutics which focuses solely on #patientcentricity As part of this, we have put together an anonymous short survey/questionnaire of just 10 questions that shouldn’t take more than 12-15 mins (six of us have timed ourselves) to complete. Most questions are click the box with just a couple being qualitative so pretty quick and easy to complete. We are hoping to get responses from all the different stakeholders in the health industries ecosystem. My request? Excited to have virtually attended the 2nd Annual Food is Medicine (FIM) National Summit hosted by the Food is Medicine Institute yesterday! It was truly inspiring to see the dedication and energy driving this movement, and to explore the progress, questions, and challenges ahead. At The Round Group, we're eager to contribute to such an important cause. A couple of topics particularly resonated with us, which we feel are worth highlighting: 1) Dion Dawson emphasized the importance of integrating FIM with the food system. This integration is crucial to actively engage the community that play a role at every stage of the system, ensuring that healthy food options are not only accessible but also affordable for everyone. 2) There was a notable discussion on the necessity of incorporating nutrition education into medical curricula, reflecting a broader need for education among both healthcare professionals and the general population. Addressing this educational gap is essential for the success of FIM interventions. Following speaker Brent Ling suggestion, we wanted to share information about FIM within our network. “We're building on critical evidence that the health care system can help patients access and consume healthy food.” American Heart Association is pleased to announce the first Request for Proposals (RFP) for its new #FoodIsMedicine Initiative, funded with support from The Rockefeller Foundation. RFP applications are open through November 6th, 2023. This RFP is focused on feasibility and implementation science, specifically achieving high rates of enrollment and engagement, and testing ways to achieve significant short-term changes in healthy eating behavior. Equity is central to this initiative, and applicants will be strongly encouraged to use a patient-centered approach to study design, and wherever possible, input from lived experience of patient participants and practitioners should guide program design. The research that springs from this first RFP will build the foundation for future large-scale clinical trials. Ultimately, the initiative’s research aims to generate the definitive evidence needed to provide widespread coverage of food-based treatment options for the millions of Americans living with chronic disease.

People might think dietitian’s role only in hospital or clinics providing conservative and outdated advices. Undeniably partially yes. But due to changing environment of health care, new, entrepreneurial opportunities exist for dietitians by becoming outstanding Entrepreneurs, Innovators and Influencers , and it could become forces of positive change our directions in future . Watching DQRC 2024 feels like watching pitching their breakthrough idea for competition Seedlab. Summary of comments from the expert Dr Kalaiarasu Periasamy on research and poster presentation : 1. Dietitian should conduct more intervention study 2. Research should have weightage more national level to provide impactful by doing more multicentre study - clinical trial 3. Presentation skills - Methodology is very clear - hypothesis kena tepat dan jelas (1-2 slide) 4. Total slides should be not more than 10 slides - 1 minute 1 slide ( Intro, methodology, each 1 page, good result - 2-3pg, Discussion - 2-3 pg, Conclusion - 1) 5. Dalam poster presentation and case study - what is so unique and special about case study. Detail and role of dietitians 6. Tips for Poster - should be more graphic, 30% tulisan, 40% graphic, 40% background (plain color background) 7. To provide printed paper for participants to bring home Summary for Clinical Audit by Nuclear medicine physician - Dr Muhammad Adib bin Ahmad Onny 1. Most of the chosen topic are relevant and can be practised by other hospital Summary by judges for KIK 1. There are 11 evaluation assesment to be followed, to include SWAT, 5WH1, etc 2. To attend more KIK course in INTAN. Use tools 3. Executive Summary( abstract ) should be written in essay, not point 4. Pilot study should be conducted in field, by whom, and to be verified for practice. 5. Previous, during and after data should be documented 6. Innovation timeline should be written and monitored properly 7. MyIPO for intellectual copyright 8. Report should be formatted 9. Presentation within 10 minutes 10. Exclude introduction but highlight more on using TOOL 11. To include outcome/impact/wow factor in presentation I wish Dietitians in institutions and universities could provide the same or more towards growing our dietetics services. The proliferation of Food is Medicine interventions and their increasing use within health care has been mostly ahead of the research, driven in large part by nonprofits and advocates who have developed creative programs to meet the nutrition-related needs of people living with chronic illness. To inform the next decade of Food is Medicine research, the recommendations in this Action Plan: • Offer concrete guidance on how to embed equity throughout the Food is Medicine research continuum; • Identify key considerations to ensure that research designs are robust and appropriate for yielding the most valuable and actionable information; • Identify the most urgent questions that have yet to be explored; and • Describe how funders and other stakeholders can support the most valuable research in the field.
