Helping concrete producers raise performance and build low embodied carbon cities. (He/Him)

The Breakthrough Energy Summit felt like a show of force by the world's construction industry to take a leading role in climate action. The entire value chain spanning finance, building and infrastructure owners, design and construction firms, NGOs, material suppliers and innovators were present and rising to the challenge set by Bill Gates to make this Summit all about DEPLOYMENT of climate solutions. The entire CarbonCure team was immensely proud to be the first BEV portfolio company highlighted by Bill Gates in the opening remarks for our deployment achievements! It was an honor to share the stage and learn from Microsoft, Turner Construction Company, Pan-United Corporation and the Center for Green Market Activation to present best practices for low carbon concrete in construction. There were so many other great 1 on 1 conversations. Evidently #concrete, #embodiedcarbon, #greenprocurement and #insetting were hot topics that filled standing room only sessions. Before the Summit began, I visited the London Wall which began construction in 200 AD with mostly of the same materials and methods that we use today! It is a testament to the durability of our products, yet slow pace of innovation. I envision that the industry will go through more transformation in the next 20 years than the last 200 to meet its Net Zero targets. I'm hopeful that we are on the right path. At the 2022 Summit (Seattle) the entirety of the cement or concrete innovation CEOs fit around one dinner table and no cement or concrete CEOs attended. This year, the cement and concrete innovations could fill an entire exhibit hall and many senior Execs from the main cement and concrete suppliers were in attendance with diverse regional representation. Most importantly, this event convened, nurtured personal connections and formed new partnerships with leaders from the entire value chain - including the next generation innovations, suppliers, designers and owners - to accelerate the deployment of climate solutions. In 2026, I predict that many of these innovations will have penetrated the market (via partnerships, acquisitions, and market based mechanisms) thereby offering building owners/designers a stackable suite of concrete climate solutions with no or very low green premiums. Thank you Breakthrough Energy for being the catalyst!

CarbonCure's recognition by Bill Gates is well-deserved. Your vision for 2026 is exciting - I can't wait to see these climate solutions become mainstream. Keep leading the way!
