Why Clinical Hiring Managers Ignore Your LinkedIn “About” Section, and How to Fix It! Recruiters and Hiring Managers sift through hundreds if not thousands of LinkedIn profiles every week. With each profile, they ask the same question: “Does this person have the experience I’m looking for?” What markers help them answer? Titles, tenures, companies, products, and responsibilities. Tangible and provable hard skills. So, why does your “About” section get ignored? Here's an insider secret: Self-stated soft skills do nothing to get you noticed. We've all seen it, the endless stream of "Highly motivated, self-driven, team player" descriptors. These are skimmed over more often than not. Might as well leave it blank! Fear not, however, for I have a short and effective template guaranteed to be more effective at catching the right eyes… "About Section Template" 1)     Title and current focus: Start with your current role and specialization. “Peter is a Clinical Project Manager at Abbott Vascular currently focused on class III cardiovascular implant technology.” 2)     Career highlights: Briefly mention your journey, emphasizing key achievements. “With over a decade of experience in pioneering early-stage clinical developments and enhancing trial management strategies…” 3)     Professional Aspirations: Conclude with your career goals. “…he is now aiming to leverage his experience for a senior strategic role in the Clinical Medical Device sector.” While soft skills are extremely valuable, they should be reserved to shine in the interview process. Hard skills get you the interview, soft skills get you the job. What are your thoughts?? Drop your new and improved "About" section in the comments below, you never know who may see it!
