In honor of Black History Month, see just how much #Blacktravelers are driving the tourism industry. According to TravelPulse, "Black travelers have emerged this decade as a powerful and influential leisure segment." They are looking to explore black history and traditions and spending luxury dollars to do so. A study with Black Travel Alliance and MMGY Global shows us that in 2019, #blacktravelers spent $109.4 billion in travel equaling 458.2 million Black US travelers stays, representing 13.1% of the US leisure travel market. https://lnkd.in/eXZcXPJS https://lnkd.in/eR2iTaZ3

Charis Tucker, @Nancy Gard McGehee, Zheng "Phil" Xiang and Berkita S. Bradford, PhD (Virginia Polytechnic Insitute and State University - Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management) analyze the importance of individual judgments by developing a valid and reliable scale which measures how Black travelers evaluate the legitimacy of destination marketing organizations. ▶ The findings extend legitimacy theory by measuring relational legitimacy which considers how organizations affirm one’s identity. ▶ Results demonstrate the value of representation in marketing, employees, and tourism products/services. 💡 Authors stablish recommendations from the Black Traveler DMO. #Blacktravel #legitimacy #tourism #DMO Tucker, C. "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." This phrase, often attributed to the philosopher Aristotle, suggests that the total value or effectiveness of a group or system is greater than the sum of its individual components Leading alongside remarkable women such as S. Kathryn Allen, Esq., Theresa Harrison, Keisha L. Mack, PhD, Aimee Griffin, Esq., LLM, and Nic Cober, Esquire, is truly an honor. I consider it an honor to belong to a sisterhood that stands as a representation of the top 1% of Black Women-owned businesses. We've just concluded our third annual conference, The BOW Collective (The Black Owner and Women's Collective), held in Destin, Florida, where we experienced a #paradigmshift. Watch the video below for an inside look at how we BOW! The Focus: capital, contracts, and community. By the numbers: ⁃ Inducted over 70 new members ⁃ Total Collective membership of 200+ ⁃ 4 countries ⁃ 30 industries ⁃ 1.2 billion dollars in revenue The Bottom Line: We are job creators, innovators, and ready to take action. One of our key priorities is ensuring that Black women business owners receive the necessary support to scale their enterprises, expand their workforce, and maintain their positive impact on their communities. Thank you to our partners MassMutual, JPMorgan Chase & Co. Acuity Events (Acuity International), HR&Co., Potomac Hospitality Group, Life & Legacy Counselors, Answer Title, CJR | Cober Johnson & Romney, GEORGE STREET Services, Inc. The MECCA Group, LLC, Cushman & Wakefield, Cultivate Advisors, Pinnacle Financial Partners, Paramount+, First Financial Group and Pinterest who not only understand the vision but play a special role in it. Thank you to our Founder Nic Cober, Esquire ! There is POWER in the community, and BOW is living proof. #thebowcollective #businesscommunity #womenempowerment https://lnkd.in/emDMe58C

Cinco de Mayo isn’t about celebrating independence. It is about celebrating the ability to stand up to forces beyond measure.” — CLAUDIA SANDOVAL, MASTERCHEF WINNER Cinco de Mayo 🇲🇽 traditions honor Mexican fascinating history. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. How did the holiday become such a large celebration in the United States? After the Mexican Civil War in 1915, many Mexican people came to the United States and settled in the southern states. When they came to America, they brought their customs and holidays—including Cinco de Mayo traditions. Ways to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo Traditions: 1. Share the Real Story. 🇲🇽 2. Support Mexican Businesses. 🇲🇽 3. Support Mexican Arts, Handcrafts and Museums. 🇲🇽 4. Eat and appreciate the Mexican Food. 🇲🇽 5. Celebrate Mexican Entrepreneurs and Leaders in the community. 🇲🇽 Visit https://lnkd.in/gGapnW7Q
