The Round was led by CATRON Holding and DTCF. Additional financial support comes from Bayern Kapital, the Max Planck Society, other private investors, the existing investors UVC Partners, Speedinvest and a grant from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Germany. Planqc is the European market leader in the field of digital quantum computing with neutral atoms. Its unique technology is based on the award-winning research of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics. After my workshop on Artificial Intelligence in research, preparing an innovation in business education workshop, and launching a new startup in the MedTech industry, it was time to diversify 🔄. So, I attended a Festival of Science and Fantasy in the Slovak city of Prešov, where I led a presentation/discussion on the legacy and philosophy of Star Trek: The Original Series 🚀🌌. The experience was wonderful; I met many interesting people from this vibrant community of enthusiasts ❤️🤝. Discussing Star Trek was both refreshing and eye-opening 🤯💡. This groundbreaking series utilized a futuristic and analogical approach to overcome societal barriers and tackle hard topics head-on. Many of its themes remain relevant today 🌍🔮.

The first time I took a photo with Shoaib Iqbal 🛰 📸, it was September 2019. Since then, he's been to space... Well, not him, literally 😉. But you could say that Sho and co-founder Przemyslaw Lorenczak (Joey) have taken their SpaceTech startup, Esper Satellite Imagery, to new heights. 📚 Story time: Sho and Joey entered a university hackathon with a vision to help map the earth's surface and materials using hyperspectral images from space. This valuable data helps industries like farming, mining and natural disaster response see the world as they've never seen it before, and track their impact on the planet. 🚨 Spoiler alert, they won the hackathon, and the prize was a HEX INNOVATION SPRINT program in Melbourne. We had just five days together to help them turn their great idea into a company. But HEX didn't stop there. 💜 Since then, it's been our privilege to cheer Esper on from the sidelines and help where possible – from reviewing their first job ads, to making intros to investors, or finding ways to elevate their profile through PR and events (not that a 2x TEDx speaker needs our help!) And in return, Sho has generously shared his exponential learning journey with new Hexies, both IRL and online. 👨🏽🚀 By the time we took this photo in 2023, Sho and Joey had successfully led Esper to the Techstars Space Accelerator, have a team of 9, secured multiple grants, backers, LOIs and prizes. Now they're preparing to create a 'constellation' of earth observation satellites and raise their next round of funding. Nearly 20 years ago, I started my journey into the world of x-rays by doing x-ray reflectometry. Today, I'm happy to share my recent project with CHEXS at the P08 beamline at DESY in Hamburg revisiting the world of reflectometry.   The x-ray mirrors created by CHEXS are truly exceptional - world class. I was invited to celebrate the iCapital award this week! I talked about brave customers paving the way for new innovations and also brave investors supporting hardware companies scaling up and investing in equipment, facility (cleanroom) and automation. You need to be brave and also patient to understand that scaling up hardware is different from scaling up software.
