FOOD STAMPS/CASH AID vs US MILITARY VETERANS I worked in a welfare department for over 11 years. I've seen people get from $5.00 a month for Food Stamps to over $750.00 a month. It all depends on the family status and income. To "apply" for welfare, you simply request aid from your local Welfare office. To "RECIEVE" aid, you must simply be eligible and pass the litmus tests for financial status. GROSS income, not NET levels. If you believe THIS is a sad event, then you only know the HALF of it. Counties administer the programs. FOOD STAMPS is a federally funded program. So, I used to call it, the program of YES. Very hard to NOT qualify for Stamps. But, it's not about helping feed people or families. The FOOD STAMP program, pays the counties to run their program. In effect: FEDs pay the COUNTIES to ADMINISTER the Food Stamp program. For each dollar provided in aid, they receive about 2-3 for "administrative costs". (As we were informed via our Union Contract talks). Counties don't care about the status, they only care about the CASH they receive to run the programs. Have doubts? See what happens when someone proposes to REDUCE Food Stamp aid in a particular County! Illegals can apply, AND RECIEVE AID, because welfare offices are not allowed to ask about "Citizenship status" during the Application process. THEY know, almost as much about the program, as the people who WORK IN the program. As to this article? VETs should never be on Food Stamps. I get it, some may need to be, but in general, NO VET that has a decent Retirement Salary will qualify for any payment. The reported $15.00 amount this VET receives? That VET is nearly maxed out for the program. Normally, they'd only get $5.00 per month, depending on GROSS Income. If you'd like to know more, read up on the FOOD STAMP program as provided by the Federal Government, USFDA : fns.usda.gov It's a great idea, but fraught with Fraud and Abuse due to literally LITTLE oversite or desire to curb Fraud/Abuse of the program. The mentality of "Just pay them, someone else will catch it" is a sorry excuse for wasting Tax Payer money. Then again, that's all this program seems to be about: Money. NOT, about the betterment of the public on the program, but for the enrichment of the Counties ADMINISTERING the program. (this is just MY opinion from someone who worked in a Welfare Office for 11 years as an Eligibility Specialist, Dept. Human Assistance, Sacto CA.)
This lady asked Veteran Larry how much food stamp he gets because an ILLEGAL left a receipt in the store and at the bottom of the receipt shows $13,500 remaining food stamp balance and $5,000 in cash. Veteran Larry says he gets $23 of food stamps a month to buy groceries. America broken promise to those of us who served!!

It Started with a One Unit Trial One of the largest food banks in the United States based out of Brooklyn NY has an incredible task of feeding the 5 boroughs of New York City. The ability to take food and redistribute it within the timeline of when that food is no longer safe for consumption means you are constantly on the clock. What’s more 1.2 million people in New York City struggle to feed themselves and or family with 1 in 4 children uncertain as to where their net meal will come from. There is a lot at stake for so many people involved with this food bank. Understanding the magnitude of this not-for-profit supply chain and the ability to cut any unnecessary steps to pick up, transport, store and deliver more food is absolutely critical. The Director of Transportation and Operations when looking at the various components of their supply chain realized that over 80% of palleted food moved was performed using their 25 electric walkies. From truck pick up to pallet storage an electric pallet truck would lift the palleted food and weigh it on a floor scale before moving it to its drop off spot. Always looking to improve efficiency this manager reached out to purchase one SkidWeigh Classic SC5, electric pallet truck scale. This initial purchase was to determine to what extent they could remove the process of weighing product on a stationary scale and save valuable time. More importantly the time efficiency helps this food bank move more food to where it is needed. Integrated Visual Data Technology is the number one supplier for food banks all over North America. We are extremely proud to be a part of such an important service to our communities. https://lnkd.in/dTu_hmfd

"Good food? Don’t bank on it. Let’s not wait for political posturing in the run up to the UK general election. We need to rebuild the foundations of a fair food system for all, now. Let’s start talking about the right to good food for all – why that matters and how we can move forward." Food banks have filled an important vacuum, but they have a shelf life and can only ever be a sticking plaster. My latest column for The Grocer: https://lnkd.in/eNAuRsed

There are 2621 counties most behind in workforce and many basic areas of access, food, outcomes, supports, etc. Food stamp applications and misinformation result in 37% not applying nationwide and likely about 50% in these counties Social support dollars are concentrated in these counties and are a top contributor - which applications, misinformation, and political shenanigans make worse. Government jobs are also a top contributor and have been cut and centralized away Health care and education have the absolute worst funding designs for these counties and also are top economic contributors. If it were not for the people of these communities supporting one another...

The Texas Tribune published this article today highlighting the food insecurity crisis in Texas. It states that Texas has the second highest rate of food insecurity in the nation. The article points to housing cost as one issue and that families are forced to choose between paying rent or buying food. https://lnkd.in/gB_e683x
“How long can we keep this up?” Food banks are under pressure from Texas’ high level of food insecurity

Tre'dish Groceries Against Inflation follow up post..... 🥕 🍗 🥑 🍖 This post seem to have struck a nerve in the best way possible as it's the one post that has filled my DM's with questions. So here are the answers: Q: How can Tre'dish provide such massive savings? A: We literally have NO bells and whistles. Our cost savings all reside in shipping direct from our wholesalers. Our packages come in repurposed unused boxes with some Tre'dish Branded Tape....that's it....simple. Q: How do delivery costs work? A: Our standard delivery fee is $7.99 but if you join our Delivery Pass for $9.99/month, you get as many deliveries as you want per month so it pays itself off after 2 deliveries. But try us out first and see what your grocery experience is like before signing up for the Delivery Pass. Q: I see you are in Mississauga and Hamilton but when will we open in Toronto, Brampton, Markham, Kitchener, Ajax? (Yes, I have gotten all of these requests) A: Its REALLY simple. We have 2 delivery days, Sundays and Thursdays (between 6am and 9am). We need 200 customers to fill a Delivery Truck in any region. Please continue to refer people in your area and we will open it up as soon as we hit this target. Q: Are we also providing Charities, Companies, Communities with Group Buying as well? A: Yes, we are already working with 4 Food Banks and are also working with a few large community groups ie: Student University groups who are looking for additional group savings for students who need affordable nutrition. Q: How can you help with the Impact Thesis because yes, I agree, its too important not to help. A: Simply spread the word and send out the link below in my comments. We are also setting up a Referral Program in January because of the overwhelming interest to support this cause. Please DM if you are interested in becoming an affiliate partner. Honestly, I could not be more overwhelmed by the support and I agree this movement for affordable food and nutrition is very much needed for everyone. Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for your kinds words and support. See everyone in 2024!

During the month of August, there were more than 274,000 visits to Daily Bread member food banks - nearly four times the number before the pandemic. To put these figures into perspective, that would fill the Rogers Centre to capacity seven times, and that's only one month. “I used to say the person using a food bank is the person sitting across from you on a streetcar, but now, it’s the person sitting across from you in a cubicle," said Neil Hetherington, CEO at Daily Bread Food Bank. With shortages of decent work, a lack of affordable housing, and high inflation, there are a number of factors currently at play when it comes to the unprecedented rise in food bank use. Read the latest interview with Neil and The Local for a look at what this rising demand has meant ➡️ https://bit.ly/3QmG8WW #FoodBank #FoodInsecurity #EndHunger #Toronto #TorontoNonProfit
