Relationships are powerful. Our one-to-one connections with each other are the foundation for change. And building relationships with people from different cultures, often many different cultures, is key in building diverse communities that are powerful enough to achieve significant goals. Whether you want to make sure your children get a good education, bring quality health care into your communities, or promote economic development, there is a good chance you will need to work with people from several different racial, language, ethnic, or economic groups. And in order to work with people from different cultural groups effectively, you will need to build sturdy and caring relationships based on trust, understanding, and shared goals. Regardless of your racial, ethnic, religious, or socioeconomic group, you will probably need to establish relationships with people whose group you may know very little about. In our World today there are an estimated 474.7 million native Spanish speakers and about 100 million second and foreign language speakers around the world as of 2022, totaling 574 million Hispanophones in total. This makes Spanish the second most natively spoken language and fourth most spoken language overall globally.
At Walmart, we embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make up our incredible team, and Hispanic Heritage Month is the perfect time to highlight the vibrant contributions of our Hispanic associates. We are proud to stand alongside our Hispanic associates, appreciating their unique perspectives, talents, and the sense of belonging that unites us all as one Walmart family. #OurPeopleMakeTheDifference #BeGreat #SecretSauce

It’s Friday, so let’s keep this short, shall we? Did you know “Come as you are” is the slogan for McDonald’s France, inspired by the song from Nirvana? McDonald’s uses it to prioritize people over products. What does it mean to you? To me, it signifies inclusivity and acceptance for all. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their differences. How do you promote belonging in your business or life? How crucial is belonging in your relationships? Let’s create spaces where everyone feels they belong. #Belonging #Inclusivity #Diversity #Acceptance #Community I understand the deep feelings of not belonging in an organisation, in a culture or country or in a relationship; if this is you today, let's talk now!

"In Australia, we have Aldi supermarkets that encourage big shopping or bulk buying for the week. If you've only come in for a small shop, say, for dinner, people will often let you go before them. Courtesy is more than simply being polite; both gestures go a long way in creating grace in the world. When we acknowledge how others might be experiencing the world and are willing to make a little adjustment, we make the world a better and more gracious place to live. 🛒🍽️ #WorldOfGrace #SmallActsBigImpact #KindnessInAction #CommunityValues" "Let's champion the importance of teamwork in our children's lives and ensure they grow up equipped with the skills to thrive in an interconnected world of cooperation! I have an owner who appreciates me. I know so because she tells me multiple times a week. She also sends me mid week pick me ups like Starbucks. I hope I tell her enough how much I appreciate her, because I surely do. Business is business but we are in the people business and being able to work with incredible people sure makes it worth it. #teamasset #assetliving#propertymanagement

Last week, Walmart and Sam’s Club associates from all over the world gathered here in Bentonville, AR for Associate’s Week. The spirit and energy that this annual event breathes into our collective hearts as Walmart and Sam’s Club associates cannot be overstated. It is invigorating to have so many people here in our relatively small city at the heart of Walmart, USA. It’s a richly diverse gathering, not just in terms of cultures and countries represented, but also in diversity of career journeys, life experience, educational backgrounds, and so much more. This was the first year I was able to attend the Associate Celebration that wraps up the week. I saw incredible entertainment (Lizzo, anyone??). I also heard from Paris Hilton and Robert Downy, Jr. about their products available at Walmart. I enjoyed the lighthearted antics of host Peyton Manning, hearing leaders from different parts of the company talk about our future, and seeing the unique things happening at various stores around the world. What was most impactful to me though, was the message from CEO Doug McMillon as he recognized three amazing associates for their dedication and the difference they make every day. He spoke about the impact of consistent effort towards achieving goals, the importance of celebrating wins and success, and the inspiration to be found in moving targets. I really needed that message. I’m personally coming out of the most difficult year of my professional life to date. That idea of “moving targets”, for whatever reason, really clicked and resonated with me. We have been experiencing a lot of change recently in Walmart Global Tech, some of it unprecedented for many of us. It’s been a challenge to stay optimistic and seek out success in times of uncertainty. It’s so easy to lose sight of positivity when things are happening around us that we can’t control. But there are always things we can control, even in the midst of the unknown. Through that lens, moving targets are a really positive thing - an opportunity for a different way of working, a chance to discover a spark of creativity, a moment to foster new ideas. Change can stifle us with fear, or motivate us towards evolution. The rest of this year, I will be working on the latter. Here’s to an incredible remainder of FY25 at Walmart. I look forward to what the future holds! #WMT2024

A Toast to Human Connection in Business: Celebrating the Power of Generosity 🥃✨" Yesterday, a simple yet profound act of kindness from Diageo reminded me that in the heart of business, human connection reigns supreme. I received a bottle of my favorite whisky, a gesture normally unexpected from a client. It wasn't just a bottle; it was a symbol of appreciation and gratitude in today's transactional world. 🌟 This thoughtful gift from the fab Caroline Rhodes, Tolulope Oke and Polly Long encapsulates a deeper truth about business relationships. It's not merely about transactions and agreements; it's about the human touch, the feelings, and connections that bind us. This gesture is a testament to Diageo's ethos, beautifully captured in their words, "We champion diversity and inclusion across our business, at every level, everywhere. From the diverse talent we recruit, develop and retain, to the way we source services and portray diversity through our brands." " 🌍🤝 This experience underscores the importance of recognition and gratitude in our professional lives. It's about acknowledging the efforts and contributions of those we work with, understanding that behind every email, every meeting, and every project lies a person with feelings and a story. In a world where the pace of business can be relentless, such acts of generosity are vital. They remind us that, as the saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.” Our collaboration at 55/Redefined with Diageo to help foster a more age-diverse and inclusive workplace is a reflection of this philosophy. It's not just about achieving business goals; it’s about building sustainable, meaningful relationships at all levels that stand the test of time. 🚀 So, here's to Diageo and to all the businesses and individuals who understand the power of human connection and gratitude. Your actions inspire and pave the way for a more empathetic, connected business world. Let's all take a moment to appreciate those around us, to recognize their efforts, and to remember that at the end of the day, we are all human. 🥂 #GratitudeInBusiness #HumanConnection #DiversityAndInclusion #Diageo #PartnershipGoals #BusinessEthos

🌟 Creating a Sense of Community through Marketing 🌟 #7/30days30marketingstrategies In today's business landscape, marketing goes beyond just promoting products or services. It's about fostering a sense of community, social responsibility, andambiencee. One stellar example of this approach is Starbucks. ☕ Starbucks doesn't just sell coffee; it creates spaces where people feel welcomed and connected. From cosy seating arrangements to free Wi-Fi, every aspect of their ambience is designed to encourage community interaction. 🌍 Moreover, Starbucks is committed to social responsibility, sourcing ethically grown coffee beans and implementing sustainable practices. This commitment resonates with customers, who appreciate supporting a brand that cares about its impact on the world. 👥 Through initiatives like their "Starbucks Community Store" program, which reinvests in local communities, Starbucks builds a sense of belonging beyond just being a coffee shop. They actively engage with customers and communities, creating a shared sense of purpose and belonging. As marketers, let's take a cue from Starbucks and strive to create not just transactions, but meaningful connections and positive impacts within our communities. Together, we can build brands that stand for something bigger than just the products they sell. #MarketingStrategy #CommunityBuilding #SocialResponsibility 🚀

As a product designer, I am passionate about translating user insights into elegant, intuitive solutions. By combining empathy, creativity, and perseverance, I craft products that deliver transformative experiences.
I want to start this week by sharing a personal story that reminded me of the importance of celebrating small wins in our lives and careers. My wife has been trying to make popovers, a type of pastry that requires a lot of precision and patience, in our smart oven. She has done this numerous times. She followed the recipe and the instructions, but they never came out right. They were either too flat or too dense. She was about to give up, but she decided to give it one more try with the traditional oven. And guess what? They were perfect! They were golden, crispy, and airy, just like the ones we had at a bakery. We enjoyed them with some butter and jam, and it was a delicious treat. This made me think about how sometimes we overlook the small wins in our lives, and how they can have a bigger impact when they add up. The same goes for our jobs. What we do sometimes might seem small in scale or scope, but every win is important and contributes to our overall goals and vision. That's why I think it's important for managers to recognize and appreciate the small wins of their teams, and celebrate them together. A team that grows together, wins together. A team that celebrates together, stays together. So, I want to ask you: What are some small wins that you are proud of this week? How do you celebrate them with your team? Let me know in the comments below, and let's spread some positivity and gratitude!
