To my fellow CA's: I think we should do something to honour and show appreciation for our CSRs and dispatchers. We cannot simultaneously think we know more than them and be upset when they book a FHA call when it is actually hydronic heat. Believe me, CSRs and dispatchers do not have the time nor the desire to figure out how to make our day horrible. Let's make sure we thank them and let them know how much they are valued. Again, you cannot simultaneously believe they purposely screw you amd that they won't try their best to appease you, if you just show a little appreciation. Like air, like water, CSRs take the path of least resistance. When that emergency call comes in who do you think they will call? The one who has complained about their inability to qualify your shitty leads all month, or the one who thanked them for fielding that chatty customer call about a water heater amd booking me there on a Friday at 5:00PM? Value your office staff and show your appreciation.

What's next on the chopping block? I feel that, assuming they proceed in offloading their freight division, this is a more consequential move than UPS' sales of UPS Freight to T-Force. UPS Freight was never really incorporated into a unified pitch along with the parcel, unlike FedEx which includes freight in nearly every parcel agreement. This will most likely require uncoupling beyond a simple divesture as their pricing agreements have spend commitments which aggregate the combined business units. This isn't a deal killer by any stretch (and I'm not saying anything that FedEx isn't already factoring into the decision), but it will require additional coordination. Directionally, this is a complete 180 degree turn away from UPS' and FedEx's desire to be the one-stop shop for all things supply chain (parcel, freight, customs brokerage, insurance, fulfillment, etc.). Will UPS and FedEx pare down to parcel only?

The decision of whether to go after a new hot IDIQ can be tough... New vehicles like SEWP VI and OASIS+ are the talk of the town, while old hats like GSA FSS are almost a rite of passage. But the cost to get on them, the amount of time it takes until they're even awarded (looking at you PACTS III), and the seemly arbitrary heading criteria, give many pause. All that said, the government favors IDIQs, like it or not. So, if you want to survive in this industry, you should find the ones your customers buyq from, and make the investment. We can help.
