♻️ Northumberland County has successfully negotiated a contract with Circular Materials Ontario (CMO), to extend our blue box pickup program until the end of 2025! This strategic move aligns with the province-wide transition to full 'Producer Responsibility' for the recycling system by 2026. 🔄 🔗 Under the contract terms, Northumberland County will continue administering the recycling collection program during this transition period, ensuring the seamless provision of curbside and deposit collections for the Blue Box program on behalf of CMO. The sale of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) has also been completed as part of the move to new regulations introduced by the province. Northumberland County's Blue Box collection program has played a crucial role in the County’s waste management efforts. Over the past 26 years, the County’s program has successfully diverted over 300,000 tonnes (660 million pounds) of recyclable materials from ending up in landfills. 👉 Learn more: https://bit.ly/41J98hb 👀 Read more about the responsibility of producers: https://lnkd.in/gWMTURMa #Sustainability #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy
