As a Board member at TELL Japan I am honored to have the opportunity to help promote an important event addressing the serious issue of sexual violence in #Japan. Kicking things off, there will be a 90-minute panel discussion with local experts highlighting various aspects of the problem of sexual violence, such as the potential mental health impacts of being subjected to these crimes and the challenges of pursuing a case through the criminal justice system. This discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the panelists. (Panellists TBC). The panel will be followed with a 90-minute interactive self defence exercise where female black belt expert Aikido practitioners will demonstrate and teach specially developed techniques, based on Aikido principles. If you plan to participate in the Aikido exercise, please be aware that you will need to practice barefoot. This week we look closely at Kotegaeshi, and how engaging your opponent's fascia can accelerate and improve the effectiveness of your technique. We also look at how to do a punch in Aikido, comparing it to Bruce Lee's one-inch punch, except that it is a 0.5 mm punch. Quite effective as a throw, but causes no internal damage. Yokomenuchi is a great technique to practice dropping your partner with an Otoshi arm drop. It can be done by wrapping your arm on the neck and doing an arm drop at your side, Or it can be practiced by the attacker, by placing the blade of your hand on his neck and then completing the strike as a throw. If you did this as a strike to the carotid artery, it can cause your partner to pass out. Join us with people from over 8 countries for an interactive immersive experience.
