According to the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in adults aged 50 and over and the fourth leading cause of moderate to severe visual impairment (1). In 2020, 60.5 million people were affected by glaucoma, with nearly six out of ten patients being women (2). Prevalence may vary per region. For example in France, the prevalence of glaucoma is close to 2% in the population over 40 years old and is close to 10% after 70 years old.
