Last year, I had the chance to volunteer at an NGO run by my friends Diana Murgulet and Viktoriia Oliinyk 🇺🇦 that organises educational summer camps for Ukrainian kids affected by the war. It was touching to see how learning in a new setting and spending time outdoors making new friends, brought a sense of peace back into their lives. Since the beginning of the war, Diana and Viktoriia's NGO has hosted almost 200 children. This year, they are extending their support to kids from the Children of Heroes foundation, who have lost their parent or parents to the war in Ukraine. Within hours of emailing our customer list about this campaign, we had detractors replying, and I quote: "This is propaganda, I'm cancelling our services." My answer: "Good!" If companies won't stand for *something*, then what's the point? To add zeros to the bank account? It's moments like these that give me great clarity on why Sprious exists. It's more than the touted "maximize shareholder value". Now, more than ever, business needs to be used as a force for good. To stand for something meaningful, to make a difference in the world.
