Ireland will always be a part of me. I lived there from 1979-1984 and my mom was born in Dublin. My father's great great-grandparents emigrated from Ireland through Ellis Island in the 1880's. They lived in the Irish ghettos in the Lower East Side and started from nothing, working the hardest and most dangerous jobs. All for a better life for their children. My family and I recently visited Ireland and saw this plaque at The EPIC Museum in Dublin. The museum focused on the millions of Irish who left and these three words spoke to me on a visceral level. #Hunger: I'm hungry for life. Hungry for experiences. Hungry for challenges, for learning, for growing and for being the best parent and business owner I can be. #Work: I was born to work. I got my first job as a manual laborer on a construction site when I was 14 and have been working ever since. I worked throughout college and get a sense of fulfillment from a job well done. I want to instill a strong work ethic in my daughter and son. #Community: I need community in order to live. Life is hard and you are made stronger by your community. NSS, its customers, employees and partners are a community. My friends and family are a community. Without helping and being helped by those in your community, life isn't nearly as rich as it could or should be.
