Leviat and the University of Malaya have successfully collaborated to push the boundaries of innovation in the construction industry with our Moment Hybrid Precast Connection. 🤝 Led by our engineers Sid Daher and Jecht Keat from Leviat, alongside the expertise of Prof. Ir. Johnson Alengaram B.E., ME., PhD., CIEM, CEng MICE(UK) from UM, and supported by a team of three dedicated doctoral students, this collaboration is focused on validating the robustness of our Hybrid Precast Solution for precast column connection. Our collaboration demonstrates the power of teamwork between industry and academia in driving big ideas. KRVIA Encounters 17th July 11:20 am Valecha Hall Of Portable Toolsheds Departing from the dynamic nature of Indian urbanity, Of Portable Toolsheds is a longstanding design-research initiative that forefronts the idea of ephemerality and movability as fundamental aspects of building public space: this entailed the development of co-mapping and co-design tools aimed at incorporating dissimilar stakeholders into processes of infrastructural design. The talk will frame this within a larger professional inquest, delving into the contemporary possibilities of design practices -from the object to the urban-, and the fields of action that lie outside conventional purviews. CHAAL.CHAAL.AGENCY is a design-research practice founded by Kruti Shah and Sebastián Trujillo-Torres that works between Mumbai and Bogotá. The nature of their work has allowed them to enquire into issues and potentialities particular to Global South urbanisms as templates for global imaginations, intending to trigger larger transformations and reengineer infrastructural systems through interventions involving visionary clients, allied organizations, and proactive communities. Their work ranges across scales and outcomes, between the speculative and the practical, and between different degrees of success and failure. How can we transform Copenhagen? In the last issue of ‘Come on Copenhagen’ (a series of opinion pieces where local architecture firms express their wishes for the future of the CPH) we made a plea to the city: 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧, 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰. It's time to realise that transformation doesn't mean limitation – but an 𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮. An unattractive building can easily be transformed into an architectural gem. 🌍 The craft of building with earth has been practised in many parts of the world for centuries. Now, this tradition, combined with modern technology, is at the forefront of contemporary construction. 📹 Meet Yara Tayoun, the Academic coordinator for the post-graduate in 3D-printing architecture at 🇪🇸 the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia. Her team produced TOVA, the 2023 winner of the 🇪🇺 #NewEuropeanBauhaus Prizes, using earth and a WASP crane to build the first 3D-printed housing prototype. 🥇 Winning the NEB Prizes enabled Yara and IAAC to connect with different EU actors involved in earth constructions and biomaterials. 🧑🔬 Together, they are exploring ways to make this technology more open-source and to adapt 3D-printing construction to diverse cultures, geographies, and climates. 🙋♂️ Do you have a project that can contribute to transforming our built environment, fostering sustainability and circularity?
