But mostly, On Call A Doctor’s Journey in Public Service provided a glimpse into the career of a hero who translated clinical research into clinical care and then played an important role in guiding health policy. Dr. Anthony Fauci has provided explanations and encouragement for American citizens and their leaders, through consultation with seven American Presidents. On Call… is a wonderful book and deserving of all the effort the reader makes to try to understand Dr. Fauci’s reasoning. In each saga, whether you agree or disagree is up to you, but in the spirit of America and Medical care, it is my plea that any disagreement remain respectful, and as much as humanly possible, based primarily on verifiable facts…

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren, alongside key representatives from the Navajo Department of Health and the Navajo Epidemiology Center, signed an MOU on August 5 with the University of Arizona to collaborate on data related to COVID-19 infections. The MOU is to identify risk factors and increase community preparedness should a future pandemic strike. “In Navajo, we have a saying,” President Nygren said. “Yideeskáadi nitsákees. Prepare for the future. Never wait around for things to happen. This MOU embodies this philosophy.” Dr. Karletta Chief, director of the Indigenous Resilience Center at U of A, said communities that speak more English have lower rates of COVID-19, whereas communities that speak more Navajo have higher incidence of COVID-19 infections. The MOU will help to understand how factors like language, socioeconomic conditions, and even lack of access to water impact Diné health across the Nation. “We are Indigenous led,” said Dr. Chief. “We have a unique perspective, and through our work a deep commitment to Native communities. I have been immersed in my Health Literacy and Leadership Fellowship at the West African Institute of Public Health for the past few weeks. I've been learning impactful strategies to improve how we support patients with low health literacy by considering making healthcare practice more patient-friendly: 🔹 Exhibit Helpfulness: Maintain a general attitude of helpfulness. 🔹 Prepare Patients: Encourage patients to bring all medications and a list of questions to their visit. 🔹 Clear Signage: Use clear and easy-to-follow signage in your practice. 🔹 Review Instructions: Routinely review important instructions with patients. When we improve our understanding of how alcohol harms ripple through society, we can create effective responses that betters the health and wellbeing of children, families and entire communities. Associate Professor Anne-Marie Laslett from La Trobe University's Centre for Alcohol Policy Research presented at the Kettil Bruun Society Alcohol Epidemiology Symposium on a landmark study, looking at the harms that people experience when someone in their life drinks. It found that one in five people care for someone due to their drinking. The study is using survey data, hospital, police and child protection data to get a full picture of the many ways that alcohol harms people from someone else’s drinking. It made use of an underused facility created for elderly people’s leisure time. Simple equipment for rehabilitation training was provided free for the users, and instructions were given by rehab experts, Traditional medical doctors, and social workers. This rural Service Station must be the first of its kind in rural China and deserves scrutinizes for its unique nature. After 5 years of service, a service evaluation of its service nature, service providers, users, and special orientations was completed. A non-government charity organization registered in Xian is responsible for the establishment. It has organized a team of Rural Medical Workers, Therapists, Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors and Social Workers responsible for the development. The Service Station is receiving users regularly, and on special occasions workshops are organized. Professional support is regularly offered by one county hospital and a Charity Organization in Hong Kong.   Towards the end of 2019, a proper review on the Service Station was be carried out by academics and professionals.
