UK Government Ditches Key Reforms to Deliver Low Electricity Prices for Steel Industry The Review, known as REMA, is the Government’s flagship reform of the electricity market where it seeks to change key parts of how electricity is priced, how renewables are paid, and the Capacity Market. Power Pools have been adopted in France, Italy and Greece and were proposed by Government because of their ability to deliver a more efficient energy system and provide lower prices for industry. Major supporters of this model included energy systems experts Professor Michael Grubb of UCL, Aldersgate Group, Green Alliance and UK Steel to name a few. https://lnkd.in/e8p8-vs9 Frank Aaskov, Gareth Stace #steel #uksteel The Conservative Party

Can anyone please try to explain what’s wrong with so many questions emerging from what should be the adequate energy transition fuel ? What’s wrong when so many are pro-hydrogen and so many are against ? What does this mean ? “In fact, integrating hydrogen heating into the UK’s energy system would push system costs up by 18% to £2.54 trillion in 25 years, according to the new five-yearly report, published today (Wednesday) by the National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC).” What are this independent commission realizing that other Governments aren’t ??? What type of agenda are being imposed to European citizens ? 🤔

How to get the energy transition back on track Current trends will mean missing our 2030 emissions targets, risking electricity reliability and failing to deliver the federal government’s promise of cheaper power. Change is urgently required on all three fronts. Summary: Australia's energy system is at a critical point, with the current trends leading to the failure of achieving the 2030 emissions reduction targets, compromising electricity system reliability, and not fulfilling the government's promise of cheaper power. Urgent changes are necessary to tackle these challenges. Although there's been significant progress in the electricity sector in terms of emission reduction over the last decade, it's not sufficient. The current share of renewables in the National Electricity Market is only 35%, which is far from the target of 82%. The biggest obstacle to the growth of renewables is the regulatory processes surrounding transmission investment, not finance. The power system's reliability needs to be maintained as the last of the coal-fired power stations close, which has been a challenge so far due to politics and vested commercial interests. Additionally, the promise of reduced power bills is yet to be realized, with prices actually increasing since the last election. To address these issues, the government needs to implement a policy to reduce emissions in line with net zero, prioritize transmission links for the NEM grid, and agree on mechanisms to maintain reliability. #EnergyTransition #Australia #RenewableEnergy #EmissionsReduction #ElectricityPolicy #EnergyCrisis #ClimateChange

The trade of renewable electricity will help countries phase out fossil fuels. But demand for the infrastructure is outstripping supply.
Will there be enough cables for the clean energy transition?

Is your energy bill REALLY going down? The energy cap may have decreased, but standing charges continue to rise. Out of the hands of Ofgem, businesses are left facing higher and higher bills. Take back control of your energy with IEG. https://lnkd.in/eQJtu9_X
