nu1 Dry air GIS (F-gas free) up to 36 kV, 2000 A, 31.5 kA is a fully certified and type-tested gas-insulated medium-voltage switchgear for primary distribution indoor applications. Nuventura's nu1 completely avoids SF6 and instead relies on dry air as the insulation medium. Maintains all the benefits of the conventional GIS: compactness, and highest reliability in a maintenance free design. On top of that, it offers 100% climate friendliness known from traditional Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS). In terms of utilizing the space on the tracks, yes a good idea. But in terms of the cabling required to take the energy out of the panels over long distances, considering the voltage drops, not such an efficient idea. I just thought to myself, why not have some miniature leaf wind turbines on the side of the train compartments, which would run on the speedy wind against it, while the train runs, to power up the utilities like lights and sockets inside the train (like a bi-cycle Dynamo). Also on the front face of the engine , on the top, can install a small size wind turbine nacelle with an encased blades enclosure, generating enough torque to drive a small DC generator to charge a battery for a 110V DC control supply. Easy fix for small power inside the train itself, isn't it? #sustainableenergy

It's Throwback Thursday! #TBT Transforming the old into the new! ✨ In Mancioux, France, we embarked on the first phase of a remarkable modernization project. 🇪🇺🇫🇷 It is a classical runoff river type with a regulating dam. The power plant had one modern Kaplan Turbine, two horizontal Camelback Francis Turbines with four runners on one shaft and two draft tubes, each equipped with direct driven synchronous generators. The two horizontal Camelback Francis Turbines have been replaced with a state-of-the-art DIVE-Turbines in 2019. Equipped with boasting an impressive electrical output of 580kW each and a runner diameter of 1.45m. This historic structure and turbine chambers could be reused. Therefore, the civil work efforts and costs are minimal which made the project economically very interesting. The satisfaction of the customer led to and order of a third DIVE-Turbine in 2019 and a fourth DIVE-Turbine for ecological flow at the dam in 2022.
