HOW TO READ LIKE A POLICY ANALYST ❗ Policy Analysts (PAs) read to keep updated on the sector and make recommendations to leadership about the next steps. This infographic gives a glimpse into how PAs read policy. One of the main skills of a PA is to understand complex policy developments and then explain them to people who are not PAs. In the policy sector, we're always talking about the "lens" or "framework" in which we look at something, which means how it affects the people, stakeholders, and my organization's goals. Once we have the ideas in our heads, we must write them so everyone can understand; therefore, our writing skills must match our analytical skills. Some CEOs believe that CPA will promote "brand purpose" or earn their company goodwill or accolades from stakeholders. 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕪 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕨𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕘. Peer-reviewed research show CPA has no upside, only downside. Specifically: 💣CPA does not translate into customer satisfaction or loyalty. 💣CPA harms brand equity. 💣CPA may please some customers but alienates others. 💣CPA doesn't have a positive effect on a company's financial performance. 💣CPA polarizes employees and suppliers.
