haha I was looking at that first one like what, that's today, that's not old-timey, but I guess we all get to be old-timey if we're lucky. We weren't allowed to go anywhere near those carts and I felt like a criminal when I got big enough to go by myself and buy...a pretzel. Burnt, invariably. With my own money. That kid in the third photo has met the love of his life.

This took me straight back to Jean Merrill’s wonderful children’s book, _The Pushcart Wars_. It may be fiction, but in my young imagination, it was easy to think that it was real…and looking at these photos makes it easy to believe again!
