28 February, 2022 (First Day in SCMC) As I eagerly count down the days to my graduation, I can't help but feel equal parts of excitement and nervousness. The journey through the Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication (SCMC) has been nothing short of transformative, shaping not just my academic knowledge but also my personal growth in profound ways. From the 501 classroom to the amphitheater and the corridors, SCMC has offered me a lot. It has been a playground of exploration, offering me the opportunity to delve into various courses, engage in experiential learning, and collaborate with talented peers from diverse backgrounds. Whether it was dissecting the nuances of communication theory, honing my storytelling skills through film projects, or navigating the intricacies of brand storytelling, every experience has been a stepping stone in my journey towards becoming an adept communicator and marketer. But beyond the confines of the curriculum, it was the moments spent in team collaborations, football matches, cultural events and late-night brainstorming sessions that truly enriched my SCMC experience. Finding and bonding with people over shared passions, fostered a sense of camaraderie and belonging that I will cherish long after graduation. As I prepare to embark on this new chapter of my life, I carry with me the invaluable lessons and memories forged within the walls of SCMC. The friendships formed, the challenges overcome, and the moments of inspiration have all shaped me into the person I am today. In our work with HUNTER SPORTS HIGH SCHOOL, our Director of Engagement, Jen Buchanan, has been taking a deep dive with staff to explore Critical and Creative Thinking. As one of the seven ACARA general capabilities, Critical Thinking and Creative Thinking skills are often presented as opposites. Critical thinking involves convergent thinking, the process of finding concrete and familiar solutions to problems, while creative thinking requires divergent thinking, the creative process of generating original ideas and new possibilities. However, with the staff at HSHS, we have been considering critical and creative thinking as two sides of the same coin: one inspires the other. In our second session on Critical and Creative Thinking, staff came together online for our "sprint." This presented an opportunity to review the information delivered in our first workshop together and to move into a phase of action where staff will develop and build activities in their classrooms to specifically develop critical and creative thinking. We'll meet again in two weeks' time to review the work and share insights on what went well, what didn't go so well, and what you would do differently."

Attending the Sports Bootcamp Conference virtually has been an enlightening journey, courtesy of Diverse Representation. Here are some exciting takeaways from the Sports Bootcamp, of what I gleaned and how it's reshaping my approach: 🌟 Application over Memorization: One key insight that resonated deeply was the emphasis on applying the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rather than simply memorizing it. Understanding its practical implications and how it plays out in real-world scenarios can be a game-changer in negotiations and client representation. 🌟 Agent's Perspective: Hearing firsthand accounts of the challenges agents face was eye-opening. From navigating the landscape of big competitors offering stipends to handling the complexities of dealing with uncertain or unstable family members attempting to sway clients, the conference shed light on the multifaceted nature of the industry. 🌟 Preparation for the NFLPA Exam: Learning pointers and tips before taking the NFLPA exam was invaluable. Utilizing spreadsheets, breaking down the CBA, and setting aside appropriate time to study and prepare were highlighted as crucial strategies. Understanding the statistics on the pass/fail ratio provided clarity on what it takes to succeed in this competitive field. Despite attending virtually, the experience was immersive and impactful. Listening to industry experts and fellow attendees in a virtual setting showcased the power of technology in fostering connections and facilitating knowledge exchange. Moving forward, I'm excited to apply these insights to my approach, leveraging a deeper understanding of the CBA and learning from the experiences shared to navigate the dynamic world of sports representation more effectively. “To Make The Best Better” Last week, we had the honor of attending the Ohio 4H Achievement Award Banquet where exceptional Ohio youth were recognized for their 4-H achievements and were appointed to represent Ohio at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, GA.  We were beyond humbled to learn that our daughter had been named as one of the select few to attend, and she’s beyond honored to take part in such an amazing experience. If you're not familiar with 4-H National 4-H Council, it's a youth organization administered by the United States Department of Agriculture that inspires young people to continue to learn and grow by doing and make their best efforts better through participation in educational experiences. 4-H's motto is "To Make The Best Better", and it's at the core of every single person associated with the program. The highlight of the evening was watching a short 60 second video of each nominee explaining what 4-H means to them. At the core of each candidate’s video was a common theme.  Their success can be attributed to passion, focus, responsibility, positive experiences, acknowledgment, satisfaction, and paying it forward to others. In our own lives, it's easy to get drawn into the day-to-day chaos that results in us losing sight of the path and attributes that led us to our successes.  Our environment can often force us to prioritize firefighting and look backwards thus causing us to slow or stop moving forward with our goals. When we stop being successful, we lose satisfaction, and finally passion.  We should all take a lesson from these successful young adults, follow their example, and focus and prioritize on the core values that made us who we are today, prioritize execution of goals, help others achieve their objectives, and like my daughter and the other kids in the picture, remember to have fun! #4H #makethebestbetter #ohio4h #osuextension #usda #exceptionalyouth #youthleaders #passion #ohio #opportunity4all National 4-H Council

Sports are more than just a game...and this picture represents one of the greatest lessons sports ever taught me... The moment frozen in time below was my teammate getting a kill that gave us match point. One more point after this and we would clinch the ACC Championship title.  It was my junior year and I was Captain of the team. It had taken me my entire college career to get to this point... My freshman year I WENT OFF! I earned awards such as the ACC Rookie of the Year, AVCA East Region Freshman of the Year, All ACC Freshman Team and I set the record for the most kills ever from a freshman at Clemson. Personally, my success was tremendous, however, my team finished 9th in the conference, leaving me shattered.  My sophomore year I became an All American. My team had inched closer but finished 3rd in the conference. It became VERY clear to me that no matter how spectacular my individual talent and contributions were, I was never going to win the trophy until I had the best TEAM.  When a team has one STUD, it is easy to lock in on that person defensively and to train to defeat one specific threat. When a team has SEVERAL weapons, they become UNSTOPPABLE. So, I made a choice to LEAD, to shoulder the responsibility of unifying our team. Despite NCAA restrictions, we poured ourselves into extra practices, bonding on and off the court. We became a force to be reckoned with, the epitome of unity and determination. This picture captures the culmination of our hard work and unity.  In the journey of life, as in sports, those who become the most successful are those who have the best TEAM around them.
