Strong #passwords ✖️✖️✖️✖️✖️ are crucial for protecting your online, digital life. Make sure a unique, long password protects each account. The longer your password, the better. To keep it simple, use passphrases, a password made up of multiple words. Maybe it’s a favorite song title or something similar that is relatively easy for you to remember. 𝐂𝐚𝐧’𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬? You aren’t alone. That’s why we also recommend that you use a Password Manager to store all of your passwords securely. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your important accounts whenever possible. MFA is an excellent practice – and should be employed on 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐘 site that requires authentication (i.e., a site requiring a username & password), including sites like Amazon. What is a Password Spraying Attack? Why you should care! Password spraying is a form of brute force attack where a malicious actor tries the same password across multiple accounts before moving on to another one. Unfortunately, these attacks are often successful because many users opt for weak passwords like "password" or "123456." One reason why password spraying works so well is that it bypasses typical account lockouts triggered by multiple failed login attempts. Since it tries one password against many accounts, it flies under the radar. What's particularly alarming about password spraying is its scalability. It can target thousands or even millions of users simultaneously, thanks to automation. This makes it a favorite tactic among cybercriminals, especially when default passwords or vulnerabilities in single sign-on and cloud platforms are present. Even though password spraying might seem rudimentary, it's still a prevalent threat. In fact, even sophisticated cybercrime groups employ it.
