Charity work is one of the most humble and amazing ways to give back to the community. Here’s me giving back to the community of the UCKG HelpCentre through our SOS campaign. Our S.O.S. campaign this year is to "Help Us, Help Others, Stay Alive". These are the works of the UCKG HelpCentre and the various initiatives that it does to keep running: 1. Weekly Soup Kitchens🥣 2. Food banks 🍞across the country. 3. Night Angels - a project that provides food for the homeless during the night. 4. Give Warmth Appeal🧤 -which supports the families of inmates who are in prison, children in hospitals and those in care homes. 5. A 24 hours helpline ☎️ for those in need of a listening ear and advice. 6. Victory Youth Group - which is catered to help young people get the best of themselves. 7. The Universal Access Point - which helps those who are in need of emergency shelter or a local service. And more! And with previous campaigns and donations in the past year, this year we’ve been able to achieve: - 13,771 Hot meals given out - 2,477 Homeless reached - 79,710 Bags of groceries given out - 36 Night Angels branches - 18 Calls from the bridges - 41 Give Warmth Appeals - 2 Liberty events - 10,179 Helpline calls NOW, WE NEED TO DO IT AGAIN! To Reach the Unreachable: In many communities, persons with visual impairments who cannot make use of guide dogs are often isolated and unaware of the support services available to them. National Interest v Personal Interest. What defines who you are? You might not have a PPE sized trust fund or a fancy yacht to sail away on, but please do think of ways you can support local and national campaigns. Just like these two below.

Social mobility and charity finance can do for those in need. The concept of social mobility is not new, but it is something that has gained a lot of traction in recent years. Providing access to resources, skills, and opportunities, can help people from disadvantaged backgrounds to lift themselves and create a better future for all. Charity finance is also an important part of the picture, as it provides the resources needed to make this happen. By providing grants and other forms of funding, charities can help to create opportunities for those who may not otherwise have them. It's inspiring to see how social mobility and charity finance can come together to create positive change. If you can, pause a moment and open the maps app on your phone. Take note of where you are right now - your physical location. Not everyone, but at least someone. Now take a moment to think of where you're at in life. What's just ahead? And behind? Either side of you? How many people in your world right now that need some form of help? Again, you can't help everyone - but at least someone. What little can you contribute to those in need. On 11 August City2Surf gives you the opportunity to support a wide variety of charities. It's a 14km walk/run, and it will raise thousands of dollars, each one intended to benefit people who need your help.
