The Community and Public Affairs team at Ochsner Lafayette General hosted their first Ochsner Academics Summer Internship for Students (OASIS) session June 17-28! This program provides formative experiences to undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career as a physician, physician assistant or researcher in the biomedical sciences. Rising juniors from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and one student from Louisiana State University participated in this immersive two-week experience. The program highlights included: 🔍 30 hours of clinical shadowing and 30 hours of academic experience in medicine at Ochsner Lafayette General 🤝 Opportunities to interact with and learn from our esteemed physicians and staff who may serve as mentors 🧪 Exposure to innovative, cutting-edge technologies in research and clinical care 🔬 Sharing key concepts in research and understanding the interrelationships between clinical care and research We are thrilled to support our future healthcare professionals and can't wait to see what their future holds in the world of healthcare!
