Erecting tariff walls brought about the Great depression. The US has full employment. Competition from other nations allows the US to grow more without raising interest rates to control inflation and is a good thing.

If those plants were economically viable, they would not need a government handout.

Shouldn’t this read “$500 million from the U.S. Taxpayers”?

In the first place - the vehicles being designed today are butt ugly -- a computer inside a brick with way too big tires and rims. When Europe brings out the first POD MOD powered vehicle in the near future -- all of this will have been for nothing. And all of the other electrics - except a POD MOD power vehicle - will still need to be recharged - while the POD MOD powered vehicle will have unlimited range and time of travel.

Someone will have to form all of the MBA curriculum developers that manufacturing can be done in America. They will have to remove the sections about out-sourcing, externalizing costs, cutting wages and cutting head-count so that they can time to teach people how to build a business.

This is only true because of the 100% tariff currently imposed on Chinese EV imports. If this tariff didn’t exist, the future of the auto industry would be Chinese made. US has a lot of catching up to do
