ATCO, with Jason Kenney on the board, is pretending its hands are tied by the Provincial government’s renewable restrictions and cannot invest in wind farms. If ATCO cannot make good choices for customers NO ONE can. They want to expand natural gas byproduct production: https://lnkd.in/gkYb6gfe Natural gas, hydrogen, LNG, and CCS are NOT affordable (being subsidized by us taxpayers) and dangerous solutions to coal due to leakage at wells, pipelines, facilities, and delivery systems. https://lnkd.in/gPTVzPjw If we do not INSIST our government invest in a renewable energy grid we will be without power in the future. The responsible choice for power is renewable energy: wind, solar, and hydro with interconnection to other provinces and states will ensure we have power during cold snaps, heat waves, when the sun goes down, the wind doesn’t blow or drought lowers hydro output. Paired with renewable or other sources of generation, it can provide energy stability and predictability to northern or other remote communities.
