Achieving your goals I love football. I started going to Arsenal matches at Highbury with my brother many years ago and haven’t stopped. The only difference is that I now support the women’s team instead. Same team, and a wonderful family oriented atmosphere at every game. With such a high standard of play in the Women’s Super League, there are plenty of goals to aspire to, both on and off the pitch. One of my goals is to get to more away matches this year, and visit other club venues. I know you’ll have a few new goals of your own, for both your life and your business. Goals that you want to achieve, and that may still be just a vague idea. How do you shape them to get a clear idea of what you want to achieve? Do you talk about them? Write them down? Make a sketch or a summarising slide? One of the best ways to make sure your goals materialise is to get clear on what they look and feel like. Have a simple description that will make it easy for you to visualise it and share with others in your team. Once you have your destination clear, it’s much simpler to make a plan to help you get there. It took me a little while, but I’m looking forward to my first away game in a few weeks time versus West Ham. However, this season reminded me that 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. In both our careers and personal lives, we often focus solely on our goals. But like football, it's the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 along the way that shape us. Here’s what I’ve learned from Arsenal’s journey: • 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Each loss teaches resilience. It's not about how many times we fall but how we rise. Arsenal’s progress, despite not winning the title, shows incredible potential. Embracing a growth mindset in our careers allows continuous evolution and turning challenges into stepping stones. • 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁: The camaraderie, teamwork, and support among players and fans highlight the importance of a strong support system. Building relationships with colleagues, friends, and family provides strength and encouragement during tough times. Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Just as predicted! Yesterday, chilling with friends during the Arsenal vs. Brighton football match. One buddy said, "Arsenal is delaying; they should score." The other said, "Anything is possible; Brighton will defeat Arsenal." Guess what! The first guy turned to him with so much confidence and said, "It's not possible." He said with a full chest that Brighton can't beat Arsenal. Lo and behold! Arsenal won. Just as predicted! I was like, what did this guy see or know about Brighton that made him so sure they wouldn't win, and they didn't The message here is, in areas with negative predictions, change it Don't let the negative predictions of men come to reality just because you wouldn't dare more You alone know that area of your life where there are negative predictions; change it. If you're struggling in studies, known for a poor grade, change it. Whatever the negative, change it. If it means spending more time - Studying - Acquiring skills - Enrolling in an institution - Practicing more to be good at what you do, do it. 2024 is just around the corner, change the negative known narrative, and dare to win. Despite falling short of the Premier League title, Arsenal's 2023-2024 season was a testament to the team's growth, determination, and resilience. While the Gunners may not have lifted the coveted trophy, they demonstrated 2 valuable lessons I'd like to share: First is Adaptation and Evolution: Mikel Arteta's tactical adjustments and player development demonstrate the value of adaptability in the face of challenges. And number two, Progress Over Perfection: The gunners Improvement from the previous season demonstrates the importance of celebrating progress, even if perfection is not achieved. Applying this lessons in our professional lives can foster motivation and continued success and growth in a rapidly changing landscape. ( This is my light in this Dark Arsenal Tunnel as a loyal fan) Despite the pain of losing out of the title challenge AGAIN. the positives this season serves as a reminder that success is not solely defined by winning. The remaining 6 matches of the Premier League will be absolutely exhilarating, even for the neutrals. In a weekend where Liverpool dropped points, this would have been Arsenal's chance to cement their lead at the top of the table. Alas, Man City were the beneficiaries after gameweek 32. The silver lining for Arsenal is Mikel Arteta. Despite not having much success of his own in his playing days, he is now leading, coaching and managing a hungry, determined, passionate group of players. What he needs now is for them to match his hunger, determination and passion. His relentless quest for success, for performance excellence, sometimes rubs people the wrong way. Some would say he may at times have let his values go in his unending pursuit to be a champion. First time it was nice, he had to do it twice. Leandro Trossard is a name that every Arsenal fan should know by now. The Belgian winger scored a sensational goal against Liverpool on Saturday, helping Arsenal secure a 3-1 victory and close the gap with the league leaders. But this was not the first time Trossard scored a wonder goal against the Reds. He did the same thing in January 2022, when he was playing for Brighton. They had the t-shirts printed, the banners ready, and the confetti on standby—all for a title they didn’t win. While the outcome wasn’t what they hoped for, the preparation and optimism they displayed tell a powerful story. In order to see how strong the English Premier League teams are in scoring and exploiting opportunities, I divided the number of goals by the number of chances and the number of expected goals by the number of chances per chance. I found that Newcastle is the team that most exploits chances, as out of every 100 chances, 20 goals are scored, and the least is Manchester United, where... Every 100 chances score 9 goals. Liverpool is in decline, Aston Villa is progressing in terms of exploiting opportunities. In terms of expected goals, Chelsea has the most expected goals out of the number of chances. The second is Newcastle. Also, Manchester United is the weakest team in the Big 6.
