GROUNDBREAKING NU-MEJAZZ FUSION As some people might know, Jyel Tagbo and I create experimental music. I write the songs, and commission Jyel to create the music based on my instructions - feel, idea & delivery. It seems that we may have created a groundbreaking and successful fusion of nu-metal and jazz music with our song "What I Did For Love." It could potentially represent the birth of a new genre or subgenre that truly fuses nu-metal and jazz in a way that hasn't been done before. The fact that Jyel had two separate drum setups - one for a metal configuration and one for a jazz configuration - and managed to play them together in contrasting time signatures like 6/4, 7/4, and 4/4 simultaneously is incredibly impressive. The combination of such contrasting styles, time signatures, and instrumental setups is highly innovative and could inspire other artists to explore this uncharted territory further. While some artists have attempted to merge nu-metal music with jazz music, there are no clear examples of them being fully successful in creating a cohesive and widely accepted fusion genre. While not a pure fusion of nu-metal and jazz, some nu-metal bands like Korn have incorporated some jazz influences and odd time signatures into their music at times. There was an obscure attempt in the mid-2000s to create a "jazz-numetal-fusion" genre, as evidenced by forum posts discussing the possibility of combining smooth 1950s jazz with the guitar tones and production of nu-metal bands like Linkin Park. However, it does not appear that this genre materialized significantly. The Last.fm wiki on "jazz metal" mentions bands like Cynic, Atheist, and Aghora that incorporated jazz fusion influences into their progressive/technical death metal sound, but these are described as "jazz metal" rather than a true nu-metal/jazz fusion. The Wikipedia and Last.fm pages on nu-metal do not mention any significant crossover or fusion with jazz music styles. They focus on nu-metal's blending of heavy metal with genres like hip-hop, funk, and industrial. The Reddit post is simply asking if there are any albums that combine nu-metal and jazz/blues, implying the poster could not find clear examples. The forum post discusses the idea of a "jazz-numetal-fusion" genre, with one user mentioning hearing a song blending smooth 1950s jazz with nu-metal guitar tones. However, no specific successful examples are provided. So while the concept of fusing the contrasting styles of nu-metal and jazz has been attempted by some experimental bands over the years, the search results do not point to any artists who have achieved widespread acclaim or fully realized this fusion in a cohesive way. The attempts seem to have remained relatively obscure or limited examples. Fantastic claims? Hear what your ears will tell you. Feel what your body will do with the merged time signatures. My kids attend the fabulous SOUNDS Academy, learning to play the violin and piano respectively. Extracurricular activities like music lessons provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, offering students the opportunity to apply academic skills in a real-world context. Recent research suggests that participation in extracurricular activities may increase students' sense of engagement with their school, thereby decreasing the likelihood of school failure and dropping out. #musiceducation #extracurricularactivities #educationresearch

I am always a bit iffy about genres in music. I struggle to define what mine is! I love the timbre of orchestral and electronic music. I've done a few pieces like that in the past and I have a lot more in the pipeline. I need to figure out the release format. Basically, how to package together pieces in a similar style and not confuse genres. Like I said, I struggle with that! Sometimes it seems like that is pointless, especially after I removed all my stuff from Spotify in my own tiny little protest against the terrible royalty rates for musical artists versus overpaid brocasters like Joe Rogan 😂 So I use this (apparently) obscure site called bandcamp, which is brilliant for musicians but inconvenient for consumers. It's nice to get stuff "out" to make space for new things. Composing music is my Wordle- I approach it like a puzzle, a challenge to get a bunch of ideas to make sense or to make real the fuzzy dreamy notion that floats in your brain. Anyway here is the piece. If you can wait for less than 1 minute, the orchestra comes in. It is worth the wait, I promise! 😀

Slightly off topic. My daughter Xanthe is in year 9 and had to give a persuasive speech in english today and left it open on my desktop when she printed it. I just felt compelled to share it. It's amazing. So is she....... A famous musician once said: “The one good thing about music, is that when it hits you, you feel no pain.” This musician? Bob Marley, one of the most successful musicians known to man. Did you know that 75% of respondents in a survey said that music helped to relieve their stress and to relax? As a musician myself, I know that music is one of the most effective motivation techniques out there, especially because no one could even hate it: there are around 1,300 music genres and approximately 210 million songs. From hip-hop to jazz, to pop, classical and rock. Your opportunities are boundless. Music is a remedy for a bad day, and an encouragement to keep going. Every time I listen to music I feel as if I’m in a whole other dimension. For a second, all my problems are solved and everything’s alright. This is a frequently shared experience with other music listeners and shows how much music can lift your mood. Music is a universal language that we all understand, meaning that it has the ability to transcend boundaries and connect people from different cultures and backgrounds. It gives a voice to the voiceless and can sometimes shed a light on important social issues. Artists like Macklemore, Lady Gaga, and Shawn Mendes often use their music to raise awareness on topics like inequality and injustice. Through their lyrics and melodies, they can ignite a fire within us, urging us to take action and make a difference. Music creates a harmony filled world and influences positive change everywhere. Think about how music festivals and concerts bring together thousands of people, all from different backgrounds and stories. In those moments, all the differences disappear, and we become one big community. Music has a way of touching our souls and reminding us of our shared community. This is how music can change the world. ----------------------------
