In #golf and sports like #baseball, the prevailing approach has long emphasized increasing the separation between hips and shoulders, known as the iconic X-Factor. The belief was that greater separation would lead to enhanced power. A larger X-factor, particularly at the peak of the backswing, was thought to result in longer shots. This perspective made sense based on studies of certain golfer styles. However, the introduction of Motor Preferences ™ has prompted us to challenge this conventional view. The correlation between the X-Factor and power isn't always straightforward. We now perceive it more as a preference that allows individuals to generate power and achieve better coordination through their natural rotation tendencies, which may be more dissociated (X-factor) or more associated (mono-block). Both approaches are valid and efficient. A golfer naturally inclined toward associated rotation will synchronize the movement of shoulders and hips to generate power and improve coordination. Even though there might still be a slight dissociation at the top of the backswing, it is significantly less pronounced. A notable example is Phil Mickelson, whose belt buckle at the top of the backswing contrasts with Rory McIlroy's substantial dissociation (X-factor). The impact results further underscore this difference in the hips/shoulders alignment. Exploring these preferred rotations not only helps prevent potential back injuries but also reveals crucial insights into aligning your body with the target. However, that's a topic for another day. The expected decision likely would make nearly every popular golf ball played both professionally and recreationally non-conforming. The news comes from multiple industry sources with direct knowledge of the plans of golf’s governing bodies, speaking on background. What is the likelihood of this actually happening? 2028 rollback for pros. Is the issue how far the ball goes, or how to just mess with you. My thought, cubic balls with 14 edges. The Tetradecahedron or truncated cube could be used. Of course once on the green you'd put a round ball. Attitude in golf is everything, and let me tell you, it's a game of starkly different perspectives. My mentor, he's been around the block, you know, attended tour events where he'd chat up the players. Tour pros, they're a funny bunch. So, there he was, asking Joe how he did that day, and Joe's all like, "Man, it was epic! I was on the 16th, pinned behind this tree. I pulled off this magical shot, bending it around the tree, landed on the green two feet from the hole. Best escape of my life!" Now, contrast that with our fellow amateurs at the local course. My mentor asked John how his round went, and John's like, "Oh, that 17th hole! Every time, I just dunk it straight into the water." It's like there's a magnetic force in that lake! Can't seem to get over it if my life depended on it. Here's the kicker: the tour players remember only the good stuff, their epic moments. But us regular folks? We've got a PhD in remembering all our mishaps. It's like we're practicing for a blooper reel. So, let's take a cue from the pros and focus on the positives.
