This is a great example of exploring a language. A new phrase can become a rabbit hole for your curiosity. How have other people used ChatGPT to learn more about a language?

🇩🇪 Geschafft! Rediscovering German through AI and a workout 🤖💪 Last Sunday morning, as I scrolled through the Peloton app to find the perfect 15-minute class for chest, back, and shoulders, I stumbled upon an unexpected surprise—a class in German! Initially taken aback, I soon realized that if anyone could engineer such a precise and efficient workout, it would be the Germans. I dove into the session and not only enjoyed an excellent workout but also rekindled my German language skills. 🧠💪 🔗 Curious about the journey? Dive into the full story and explore a language-learning workout session!

Not for exploring a language per se, but ChatGPT has been incredibly helpful to me for communicating with cultures that make their own rules when it comes to linguistics. Georgian, for example, has its own script, but in practice locals often use the Latin alphabet to create phonetic equivalents of Georgian words because those can easily be typed on modern electronics. Automatic translator apps can’t process these translations (especially when combined with the task of interpreting the meaning of local phrases that, when taken literally, do not translate well to English), but the ability to provide added context enables ChatGPT to handle many of the translations I need to stay connected to local communities.

Hello, I'm using your tool because I am developing curriculum which will include an imbedded, interactive AI component to guide the experience, overseeing and administering testing and intervention, accommodations and the like. I believe I have already detected a case stubborn, persistent, prolly not rational bias. How can I get more betas? Where does it derive from? Is there a fix? Are you interacting with users on collecting incidents? Thank you for your time!

Amazing. We were one of the first companies in Brazil to figure out how to use ChatGPT to learn foreign languages. This is how Brazilian are using it to learn English: https://www.nacaofluente.com/blog/chatgpt-melhorar-ingles/

Yes indeed. I’ve got a holiday in France coming up and I’ve created a French language tutor to help me brush up. I set it up to do an initial assessment of my current (dusty) knowledge of French and it’s guiding me thorough some basics at present. Super simple prompt: ‘I want you to act as my French tutor, starting by understanding my current level of knowledge of French, but then progressing eventually to more conversational basic French that would be useful on a holiday to France.’

Every damn day. ChatGPT has helped fuel my passion for learning languages and connecting with people from around the world. A critical tool for my learning. It provides answers to so much nuance, especially as you dive into the most advanced stages of a language. The chat feature is excellent, allowing you to switch dialects/accents on demand. If there were one thing you should change OpenAI, it would be the ability to have the pace of conversation slow down on demand. This will help people in the early stages of learning a language. As it stands right now, ChatGPT’s chat version will only give you about one second after your last word to immediately start responding. When you ask it to slow down its speech, it doesn’t—it keeps the same pace. So slowing or quickening the pace of speech on demand is something crucial for learning a new language, but could provide a great accessibility avenue for others in general as well.

That‘s what it’s all about… ChatGPT might not be able to do your laundry (a real shame), but it can help you learn and get a lot of other things done. Whether you need information, have questions, or are looking for creative ideas, ChatGPT is there for you. The question is, will we eventually forget to use our own brains in the process? In the end, I didn’t learn a new language; I just forgot my own.
