Technology leaders need to understand and communicate the impact of their investments. According to Deloitte’s most recent “Global Technology Leadership Study,” almost half of respondents say technology project performance metrics and the impact of tech programs are key discussion topics in the boardroom. The graph below shows the top challenges CxOs face when assessing and understanding the ROI derived from technology investments. Six in 10 respondents find it difficult to quantify the softer, less tangible benefits of individual tech investments. As a result, tech spending can often be viewed as overly complex and costly, which may lead to more tech budget scrutiny.
