The science of making and breaking habits is the title of this week's podcast by Andrew Huberman Lab. I have read books and listened to podcasts about this subject, but none of them resonated with me as realistically as this podcast. How long does it take to develop a habit? Does it depend on the individual🥷, the complexity of the habit 🔀, or the environment🧭? What is the science behind habit formation and elimination, and how does the process of neuroplasticity underlie these phenomena? During the podcast, two systems of habit formation were described—one based on a 24-hour day⏱️ and the second based on 21 days 📅. What are dopamine rewards, and how can we apply them to build or break a habit? I needed such a podcast to stay motivated, as the goal of this walk was to work on both the long distance and the elevation ✅. link to the podcast in the first comment.

In this episode, you'll learn the importance of self-care for mothers and the challenges they face in prioritizing their needs. The need for rest and support during the early years of motherhood is very much overlooked, so mothers need to ask for help often. I'll also highlight the importance of creating simple and sustainable self-care routines and accepting the challenges of motherhood. This episode emphasizes the importance of self-love and taking action to prioritize self-care as a mother. How can it be that there is structure, BUT flexibility? Being both flexible and structured are big parts of the Stable Moments model…but wait, how can you be flexible AND structured? The truth is, kids, and most humans need a whole bunch of things…but we like to come up with blanket approaches - it’s easier for us. It’s actually the reason for our divisiveness and polarity as a country - many of us see one right answer, but it isn’t that simple. Many things can be true at the same time, and our approach has to offer more than one answer, especially to children in #fostercare with #complextrauma needs. So what does being both flexible and structured look like? I am so glad you asked. Check out this month's podcast episode where I break it all down for you. #podcast https://loom.ly/NIY59es

Learning how to process emotions is always a good idea, but it’s especially relevant now. Our guest for this DMC is Erika Needleman of Adulting with Erika, who is passionate about teaching women to learn how to process emotions in a healthy way. Erika is one of those special people who has such good insight into people and into life, and is driven by the belief that if we look to ourselves, we have many of the answers. On this DMC, we discuss the wide range of emotions women are experiencing right now due to the war, what processing emotions in an unhealthy way looks like, what processing emotions in a healthy way looks like and the steps we can take to achieve that, what we can do when we notice we’re falling into the trap of bad habits when it comes to processing our emotions and how to handle when loved ones process emotions differently to us Disclaimer: for anyone who is going through acute trauma due this war, this episode is not designed for you. This episode is also not meant to take the place of seeking professional help. Available wherever you get your podcasts.

Some fun facts to start this Tuesday. Did you know that… 💡 90% of podcasts don’t get past episode 3. That’s 1.8 million who quit. 💡Of the 200,000 left, 90% will quit after 20 episodes. That’s another 180,000 gone. 💡To be in the top 1% of podcasts in the world you only need to publish 21 episodes of your podcast. 💡That means basically (if you’re doing the math) there are 20,000 podcasters who didn’t quit. And guess what. Over at DWW, we’re not quitters, friends. We’re overachievers. 😂 And that’s why we’re celebrating FIVE YEARS of running our mouths, pushing for change, and fighting for us all. A special shoutout and thanks to my partner in crime slash best friend slash sister who is not only the person that I can most reliably count on for a ridiculous dance party but also the person who I know I could call at 2 AM if I needed to bury a body in the desert and/or solve a kid's urgent friend problem and/or discuss a solution to systemic injustice. Sara (Yoko) Blanchard, thanks for being that ride or die friend that we all need, in every facet of our lives - DWW wouldn't exist without you. Our "cheers to five years" episode is linked below. Thanks to all of you who have made five years possible, and rest assured, we're clearly not running out of topics anytime soon, so here's to year SIX and beyond. [Photo is a throwback from year one of the podcast, when we spoke at the Womxn's March Denver in January of 2020]. #AllOfUsOrNoneOfUs #DWWPodcast
