We need to move beyond focussing only on Adult Learning Principles in patient/family health education. Nurses and HPs need to help people develop capabilities in thinking, reasoning and problem-solving (Cognitive Learning Principles) as they learn how to self manage their health conditions. 🌐 A Vision for Cooperative Clinical Placement in PA Education 🏥 In the realm of PA education, securing clinical sites has often been a competitive endeavor. Yet, as we strive for excellence in training the next wave of health care professionals, I wonder if there's room for a more collaborative approach. I realize the process is so much more complex, but we should consider these ideas as the health care shortage crisis worsens. Picture this: a collective repository of clinical sites, where PA schools aren't competitors but allies, sharing resources to ensure comprehensive, accessible clinical experiences for all students. A system win which the focus shifts from competing for spots to enhancing educational quality across the board and promote preceptor participation. This concept isn't about immediate action or additional tasks for our already full plates. It's about planting a seed for thought, sparking dialogue within our community about potential paths we could walk down together in the future. Could such a cooperative model not only ease the burden of site acquisition but also foster a richer educational environment for our students? If there are any Graduate nursing programs interested in offering a systems level thinking class to your curriculum, I have just developed one entitled: Designiing Health Care Systems: Nursing and the application of intentional design. Class would be conducted via Zoom and includes many group thinking exercises and seminar discussions. Learning objectives: •1.
