📊 OECD headline inflation eases slightly to 6.2% in September 2023 Year-on-year #inflation in the #OECD, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), decreased to 6.2% in September 2023 from 6.4% in August, following increases in July and August. Inflation fell between August and September in 27 OECD countries. By contrast, it rose in 8 OECD countries, with rises of around or more than one percentage point (p.p.) in Spain, Costa Rica (the only OECD country where headline inflation was negative), Slovenia, and Türkiye. Double-digit inflation was recorded in Türkiye, Hungary and Colombia. 🥖 #Foodinflation in the OECD slowed for the tenth consecutive month, reaching 8.1% in September, down from 8.8% in August. Year-on-year inflation in the OECD, as measured by the Consumer Price Index, decreased to 5.6% in October 2023 from 6.2% in September. This is the lowest level since October 2021.

Headline inflation rises slightly to 5.9% in July 2023 despite a decline in most OECD countries Year-on-year inflation in the OECD, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), rose to 5.9% in July 2023, after 5.7% in June, the first increase since October 2022. This increase was mainly driven by a sharp rise in inflation in Türkiye. Excluding Türkiye, OECD inflation is estimated to have been broadly stable in July. Falls in inflation were recorded in 26 of 38 OECD countries, of which 17 experienced declines above 0.5 percentage points. Energy inflation in the OECD remained negative, at minus 7.5%, after minus 9.6% in June. It was negative in year-on-year terms in 30 OECD countries, and it declined in 22 countries relative to the previous month. Headline inflation declined in 24 of 38 OECD countries and stood below 2.0% in nine countries in June as opposed to six in May. By contrast inflation remained above 5.0% in Colombia and Iceland, and above 70% in Türkiye. OECD inflation excluding Türkiye is estimated to have declined to 2.9% in June, from 3.1% in May. OECD #energy inflation declined to 2.3% in June from 2.5% in May, with falls in 24 countries. Significant differences continued to be recorded across OECD countries: energy prices in June rose by 10% or more year-on-year in Türkiye, Colombia, Belgium, Chile, and Denmark, while they fell by more than 10% year-on-year in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Lithuania, and Norway. OECD headline inflation stable at 5.7% in February 2024, food inflation continues to slow Year-on-year #inflation in the OECD as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was stable in February 2024 at 5.7%, having hovered around 6.0% since May 2023. Headline inflation fell in three-quarters of OECD countries, with the largest monthly declines recorded in Poland and Sweden and the largest rise in Türkiye. Headline inflation was below 2.0% in seven OECD countries and remained negative in Costa Rica. #Foodinflation continued to decline for the 15th consecutive month, reaching 5.3% in February after 6.3% in January, and increasing in only four OECD countries. OECD food inflation was lower than headline inflation for the first time since November 2021. 📉 OECD headline inflation slows to 5.7% in January 2024 Year-on-year #inflation in the OECD as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) declined from 6.0% in December 2023 to 5.7% in January 2024. Headline inflation fell in two-thirds of OECD countries, with the largest decreases (more than one percentage point) recorded in Czechia, Slovak Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Iceland. Inflation stood below 3% (or was negative) in 14 OECD countries in January 2024, compared to 11 countries in December 2023. Inflation less food and energy (core inflation) in the OECD was broadly stable, reaching 6.6% in January 2024 compared to 6.7% in December 2023, and it has remained higher than overall inflation for the last nine consecutive months. #Energyinflation in the OECD has been negative since May 2023 and remained so in 23 OECD countries. However, Türkiye and Colombia experienced energy inflation in excess of 25% in January 2024. #Foodinflation in the OECD continued to slow, to 6.2% in January 2024 compared to 6.7% in December 2023. 📊 Year-on-year inflation in the OECD, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), increased from 5.8% in November to 6.0% in December 2023 (Figures 1 and 2), after three consecutive months of decreases. Inflation excluding food and energy (core inflation) was broadly stable in the OECD, at 6.7% in December, still 0.7 percentage point (p.p.) above headline inflation. The decline of food inflation in the OECD slowed compared to recent months, standing at 6.7% in December after 7.1% in November. Nevertheless, declines in food inflation were recorded in 31 OECD countries. Energy inflation in the OECD remained negative for the eighth consecutive month.
