M&As are a major part of today's business world. For many businesses, M&As are a key part of strategy. However, this strategy might not cut it anymore. "Companies that cling too tightly to M&A as their primary growth engine may find themselves struggling to keep up with the relentless pace of change," writes Nadine Mirchandani. And while I believe M&As can be effective for business growth and success, they can't be solely relied on. Mirchandani says that business leaders need to become more adept at tapping into external innovation happening outside their four walls, and I completely agree. Part of being a strategic leader is staying aware of market changes and including more joint ventures and partnerships. During the first quarter, order intake decreased by a total of 1 per cent. Adjusted for acquisitions and exchange rate effects, this corresponds to a decrease of 3 per cent. Net sales decreased by 4 per cent. The comparative figures are tough, as we achieved a record high in the corresponding quarter last year, and adjusted for acquisitions and exchange rate effects, net sales decreased by 6 per cent. We are also delighted to announce that Innovalift AB, a business unit within Latour Industries AB, will be reported as a separate business area as of the second quarter of 2024. Through organic growth and acquisitions, the companies included in Innovalift have been on an exciting journey of growth and, as late as the fourth quarter of 2023, we consolidated them in a group under the name of Innovalift, which is now set to become our seventh business area." This has been a tough year in the #BCorp M&A world, with much-loved brands like #Pukka and #TheBodyShop succumbing to values-misaligned metamorphosis post-sale. In this article the Greenheart team and I have tried to pick out some learning points for both acquirers and brands. My takeaways: 👫 Post-deal integration plans need to balance increased operational efficiency and loss of brand independence. In particular, how can a post-deal model preserve values-based decision making? 🕴 Advisors, particularly on the buy-side, should ensure they have full clarity/understanding about what is required to maintain B Corp status post deal, ensuring that their clients are aware of the requirements to maintain the status 💸 Sellers need confidence that the chosen acquirer has a really good grounding in sustainability and impact before selling – or appreciate the possible fallout for their lovingly-nurtured brand. #RegenerativeByNature #ImpactInvesting #MergersAndAcquisitions

M&A is a process. McKinsey & Company calls the process of methodically acquiring companies, "programmatic acquisitions". There is a lot to learn here as being programmatic drives the serendipity out of an acquisition program. While this advice comes from McKinsey, it is advice that smaller companies can apply and benefit from. It's all about having a strategy, a robust pipeline of potential acquisition targets and prioritizing value creation over price. McKinsey's data found that programmatic acquirers growth and market cap (valuation) outperformed their peers who did not execute on a programmatic acquisition program. In one company in my career we bought 50 companies in 3 1/2 years and created a billion-dollar company that we successfully IPO'd and then strategically sold for something like 42X earnings (a 100% premium over the price our stock was trading when the acquisition was announced!). What needs to be shared is companies based on vice and novice rival- competitions. when such situation works out for no sense it is pro-logic and made governance. Where in, Wise companies have long term business needs and much more to do in there baskets. Every step of the company if taken wisely has prompt results for future viability and ramp. In today's environment when a small error is having no place due to technology enhancement and goals are defined within the limits of logical thinking ,it is spared to have enough life for "rose thinking" in organisations.
