Exciting news from ADHI Karya (Persero) Tbk as they recently inked two groundbreaking contracts for the construction of gas engine power plants (PLTMGs) in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, and Tobelo, North Maluku. These power plants, slated to be owned by PLN, mark a significant step towards advancing Indonesia's energy infrastructure. The total value of ADHI's involvement in these contracts stands at an impressive Rp701.1 billion.
In a collaborative effort to bring these projects to fruition, ADHI Karya has partnered with Korea Electric Power Corporation Engineering & Construction, Inc. (KEPCO) through a joint operation (JO) scheme. The signing ceremony, attended by key industry figures including ADHI's President Director Entus Asnawi Mukhson, KEPCO's CEO Sung Arm Km, and PLN's President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, emphasizes the importance of international cooperation in meeting Indonesia's growing energy needs.
The PLTMG project in Tobelo, boasting a capacity of 30 MW, sees ADHI Karya taking a 52.8% stake, with KEPCO holding the remaining 47.2%. Similarly, in the Sumbawa project with a matching capacity, ADHI commands a 50.1% share, while KEPCO holds 49.9%. Construction for both projects is scheduled to commence by the end of 2023.
This strategic collaboration aligns with the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry's directive to shift away from coal-fired power plants, emphasizing the pivotal role of gas engine power plants in achieving this transition. By leveraging the expertise of a South Korean company like KEPCO, ADHI Karya aims to contribute significantly to reducing CO2 emissions and ensuring environmental sustainability for future generations.
