Bureau of Land Management Decision Will Prevent Proposed Ambler Road in Alaska’s Brooks Range In late June, the Bureau of Land Management issued its Record of Decision halting plans for the Ambler Industrial Road in Alaska’s Brooks Range. Jen Leahy, Alaska senior program manager for the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, praised the decision: "Today’s outcome is a win for local residents, Alaska Native Tribes, and over 14,000 conservation-minded hunters and anglers nationwide who advocated for preserving the enduring wild character of the Brooks Range. We commend the BLM for prioritizing these public lands for hunters and anglers, and for grounding this crucial decision in sound science and extensive public involvement." This decision follows the BLM's final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement released on April 19, which endorsed the "No Action" alternative, signaling the agency's intent to block the proposed industrial corridor.
