Truly hope that this experimental mining scheme will be shut down. Knowing what we now know, it’s a wholly irresponsible plan that will cause irreparable damage. With aggressive recycling and adaptive reuse we can reduce mining on all fronts

Often referred to as a “soft armoring” technique, it is sometimes viewed as a superior alternative to hard armoring because it avoids some of the major pitfalls associated with hard structures like seawalls. Seems every country has lost its moral & ethical duties/responsibilities. We are already witnessing #climatechange effects e.g. extreme weather events, #flood , #heatwaves , #ElNiño #cyclones etc. But #Norway govt. approved 1st commercial #deepseamining project. It will lead a significant threat to the #seabed & #marine #ecosystem.

Mining for lithium in the Thacker Pass could turn this small area of land in Nevada and Oregon into some of the most valuable land in the U.S. for resource extraction in the coming years as we transition more and more toward electrification and the need for batteries for storing energy.

🌱 We applaud Secretary Haaland’s announcement of an Interagency National #NativeSeed Center during the National Native Seed Conference. The establishment of an interagency center was a key recommendation offered by the National Academy of Sciences in a recent report that highlighted the severity of the national native seed shortage and its implications for healthy lands and waters. 🐝 #NativePlants support native #wildlife and #pollinators. The BLM and other federal agencies need millions of pounds of native seed every year and are only able to acquire a fraction of that. An interagency seed and restoration center and continued investment in the National Seed Strategy will help address this major challenge and need.
