Come January, the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is poised to send ripples across industries. Aimed at aligning sustainability reporting with financial reporting, the CSRD mandates extensive reporting requirements. Companies falling under its purview must meticulously record their Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, adhering to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The deadline for initiating these practices is 2025. Failure to comply with these stringent regulations could result in hefty fines—up to €10 million or 5% of annual revenue, contingent on the geographical reach of the business.
