My first official week back as GM UK & Ireland. What have I been up to? 1. I met the brands to understand the needs and create action plans to secure we deliver on our commitments to fulfil customer expectations ✅ 2. I met with our provider partners for both our logistic flows and our daily operations warehouse machinery to understand any challenges and created action plans to secure that we deliver with precision to our dealers and customers. ✅ 3. I took touchpoints with my direct reports to understand their needs, take any feedback and to ensure they have all they need to be able to secure their daily tasks and deliver for our customers. ✅ 4. I did a warehouse gemba to go and see everything and anything, and to check in and say hello to our warehouse team members who were on shift. It was great to see the proactive planning of tasks and resources was visibly there to secure we are always ready to deliver to our customers. ✅ 5. I led two End to End workshops to identify the pain points and root causes in one of our most important parts logistic flows. Securing attendance and participation from all stakeholders within that flow. Central warehouse teams, to customs teams, to our linehaul and distribution partners, transport parts management teams….and so on. This is always one of my favourite activities. ✅ 6. I attended functional and local team meetings where I received a very warm welcome back. ✅ It’s been a jam packed week, high intensity, high energy and a high drive required. I’m clearly most at home leading operations, because I didn’t realise until this week how much I’ve missed it. It’s great to be back 👊🏼✅ #renaulttrucksuk #volvotrucksuk #volvopentauk #servicemarketlogistics #proudtodeliver

Chrysler-parent Stellantis said Friday it will lay off about 400 U.S. workers as it works to cut costs, boost efficiency and ramp up electric vehicle production plans. U.S. automakers have been trimming costs and reducing headcount over the last year. The cuts represent about 2% of Stellantis' engineering/technology and software organizations worldwide. The Italian-American automaker plans to have 30 battery electric models by 2030 and https://lnkd.in/eMYcpTf3

Ford’s South African Operating Committee spent a morning working on the Silverton assembly line last week, joining operators at various parts of the line that builds the Ford Ranger. While I have been humbled many times this year, working (half) a shift fitting window regulators will go down as one of the most memorable. We met people that have worked that line for 40 years, others that have spent a decade in a particular station, repeating the same process 200+ times a day. In a chat with the wonderful operator that taught me the ropes last week, she asked what my day looks like and what we do. I told her that we have a lot of meetings, and that we sit for most of the day talking about things. Contrasted with her reality – where there is no sitting and there are no meetings, and she is producing a tangible output every day – it felt a little empty. But on reflection this kind of contrasting reality is one of the reasons the automotive industry is so fascinating to work in. Whether with our Dealers, Suppliers, Head Office or Assembly Line, the experience of working in an industry that produces a physical product alongside ideas that will shape the future is a privilege. It is complicated only by the fact that we don’t take the time to understand each other’s reality. Listening is the first step but doing the work to really understand – and then finding compromises underpinned by every individual taking full accountability for their part of the puzzle – is what’s building a winning team. #Gemba #Collaboration #Manufacturing #FordSouthAfrica

Ford Supply Chain Executive Departs After 16 Months As is the case with every other automotive manufacturer, Ford has been dealing with serious supply chain issues for years now, though conditions have improved significantly through the course of 2023. Last year, The Blue Oval temporarily tasked CFO John Lawler with leading its global supply chain organization, along with Jonathan Jennings as its vice president, supply chain, and is also tasked with supplier technical assistance and quality. This past February, Annie Liu – then executive director of purchasing for the Ford Model e and former head of supply chain at Tesla abruptly left the company, but FoMoCo later hired Liz Door as its chief supply chain officer, taking over Lawler’s duties. However, now yet another Ford supply chain executive has left the company after 16 months on the job. That exec is Katherine Worthen, executive director of the Ford Blue supply chain, who left the company to accept another position with another organization. “People leave for different reasons,” said Ford spokesperson T.R. Reid. “She had another opportunity, and we wish her the best.” Worthen spent 18 years at General Motors working in global purchasing and supply chain for that automaker, after which she moved on to GE Renewable energy for a few years before joining Ford. The Blue Oval currently doesn’t have a replacement tabbed for that particular position at the moment. www.holosailtech.com - - #HoloSail #HoloSailTech #SupplyChain #SupplyChainSolutions #Logistics #Software #SupplyNetworks #Transportation #Shipping #ShippingContainer #Global #Port #Warehouse #WarehouseEfficiency #Sustainability #Freight #Inventory

Often on the journey to new opportunities, we encounter moments that may be disappointing, yet serve as important lessons about how we relate to ourselves and the world around us. I have sent my resume to various companies multiple times, hoping to find the perfect fit for myself. However, I didn't always receive the responses I expected. For instance, I applied to Bridgestoneemea several times, confident that my skills and experience made me an ideal candidate for the positions offered. However, I only received a response after the first inquiry. Pirelli, on the other hand, did not respond at all. These situations prompted me to reflect on how I react to such moments. Instead of succumbing to despair or disappointment, I chose to see them as opportunities for growth. Perhaps my skills and experience didn't perfectly align with these specific companies, or they had their own hiring strategies. It's just part of the process. So even in challenging times, it's important to remember that rejection doesn't always mean failure; it can simply be a stepping stone to something even better. The key is to remain persistent and believe in oneself.

ZF Group, Mercedes-Benz AG and BMW Group are addressing and mitigating human rights risks within their supply chains in Mexico. 👇 🌎For ZF and the German automotive industry, Mexico is an important production location. In a globally unique pilot project for the industry as a whole, ZF, Mercedes Benz and BMW have now taken on expanded responsibility. It is about addressing and mitigating human rights risks prevalent within the automotive supply chain in Mexico. 🚀To ensure this and to complement existing grievance mechanisms, an independent grievance platform is launched today. In Spanish it is called Mecanismo de Reclamación de Derechos Humanos – MRDH. 🤝“This independent cross-company grievance mechanism was developed in cooperation between government institutions, trade unions, civil society, companies and human rights institutions - both from Germany and Mexico. The guiding principle is to offer rights holders better and fairer working conditions along the entire supply chain,” says Dr. Lea Corzilius. She is Chief Human Resources Officer/Labor Relations Director of ZF Group, Human Resources, Corporate Governance and Sustainability. 🚗Such an independent mechanism makes sense because many people (rights holders) in the long supply chain often do not know which automotive company the product of their work goes to. In the event of suspected or actual violation of human rights, the MRDH’s task is to investigate the company to clear the matter. 👉“This partnership-based cooperation is exemplary and a novelty not only for the automotive industry,” concludes Dr. Lea Corzilius. #Sustainability #ActingNow #ActingForAllPeople Learn more about this pilot project here: https://lnkd.in/eBzFfxmN

Respecting human rights is fundamental for Mercedes-Benz AG. That’s why I am beyond proud that a big step in the right direction was made. On Tuesday, we celebrated the #inauguration of the “Mecanismo de Reclamación de Derechos Humanos”, or short MRDH in Mexico. This cross-company grievance mechanism is unique because it’s accessible to all workers – from the raw material mines to the production sites. It’s an important milestone in our long lasting work on protecting #HumanRights and establishing respective due diligence processes. It also marks the beginning of an innovative way of cross-company-collaboration: colleagues from Mercedes and other companies like BMW Group or ZF Group were involved in the development process as well as representatives of associations, trade unions, civil society organisations, national human rights institutes, and other initiatives. The MRDH shows what is possible when companies join forces and civil society organisations are taken on board from the very beginning. I am convinced that the pioneering spirit of this project will inspire our work and maybe will move more companies to join.
