This is one reason why I LOVE what I do. I remember the first time Joshua and I discussed the amazing concept he'd come up with for his new business venture; a best-in-class eatertainment concept that would expand upon the offerings of current competitors, and raise the bar to new/uncharted standards. It would be a new way to "ke'nekt" people, emphasizing social connectivity as being just as important, if not more so, than the games and activities it featured. This conversation occurred some time in the second half of 2020... just think about how that must have landed with me at the time. It was smart, well thought out, ambitious, and totally believable, but it was also a time of great uncertainty, especially for concepts emphasizing togetherness. But here we are. I'm not at all surprised that Your 3rd Spot™ Social Dining is now a highly-acclaimed and award winning business. There's a whole team of individuals who I know put their blood sweat and tears into this. That said, I'm incredibly excited for Josh and his team for this recognition. I'm also excited for the whole family and team at Selig Enterprises, Inc. for believing in the concept, moving mountains to help make it happen, and for everything they've done to make #TheWorksATL such an incredible place to spend time each and every day. #teamwork #creativity #execution

A great evening with some very clear considerations about economic activity, the role of entrepreneurship and innovation to support complex challenges. Two points of reflection which I have thanks to the great conversations at the table 1 Contradictions between policies and actions are cemented in old habitual patterns of thinking about what success and advancement looks like. With that we are in a spiral 🌀 very difficult to get out of with certain challenges. Structures and culture are reinforcing so what agency and different action will start to move us beyond ? We need to reframe value as a starter. 2. Environmental challenges all need us devot agency and action towards but when it comes to personal adjustments on privilege and our way of living, governing and contributing (tax), how many will make adjustments to support the broader societal impacts? We need to reframe values as a starter. Thanks Learnovate Centre, Trinity College Dublin for the experience.

I'll be the first to admit, I am not a huge reader (something I'm working on). But, when there's something I can get into, I usually talk everyone's ear off about it post-read. While on vacation, I read Will Guidara's Unreasonable Hospitality. I loved it, and think whether you have a background in hospitality or not, I'd implore you to read it! It provides Will's amazing story about his upbringing, dedication to his team, the restaurant industry, and both his successes and failures over the course of his career. There's most definitely something everyone can learn from, big or small. Of course, my favorite portion was coffee related, when Will talks about the importance of the after meal cup of coffee, and how often it's neglected, even at some of the finest restaurants in the World! "Finally, I got the cup of filter coffee I'd been served after dinner. It was a perfectly fine cup of coffee, but because everything else about that meal had been so unbelievably 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 perfect, that just-okay cup of coffee stood out". BOOK REVIEW: I am a big fan of delivering perfection and excellent client hospitality. I constantly read books (I like the hardcover book) on self-improvement and changing the landscape of life. My most recent read is one for everyone. Will Guidara "Unreasonable Hospitality." For anyone who is a foodie and restaurant lover, this is about the excellence, pain, and love of Eleven Madison Park restaurant in NY. It's such a fun read filled with emotion. DID YOU KNOW where the Michelin star criteria came from? I will tell you this, it has a lot to do with Michelin tires and France. That’s what it took for restaurateur Will Guidara to dazzle some visiting clients who were fine dining at his four-star, award-winning restaurant, Eleven Madison Park, in New York City. According to the hospitality mogul, his success was the result of dedication, hard work, and attentive listening to his customers. He penned the concept of ‘Unreasonable Hospitality’, a philosophy based on transforming ordinary transactions into extraordinary experiences. He highlights 3 key points for achieving success when serving people: 1. Be present. Care about what you are doing. Listen to what people are saying and not saying. 2. Take what you do seriously, without taking yourself too seriously. 3. Give people a sense of genuine belonging: ‘One size fits one’. Don’t treat people like a commodity. According to Will, we live in a service economy. This means that making good products is just not enough.
