Associate Professor of Applied Analytics and Digital Economy | Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Leader | Consultant | Coach
🎥 Made it into a few clips from Macildowie Recruitment and Retention’s highlight video from their “Funding, Tech and Talent for Growth Event” hosted at University of Leicester School of Business. 🤖 Paul Bratcher and I delivered our “AI guys” double-act which outlined the opportunities and challenges for AI implementation in business. 👾 We presented some practical frameworks for AI project selection, and finished with a cautionary case study - a company logo, CEO and professional video about a company which used AI to accelerate growth - all fabricated using AI. 🏙️ I’ve previously secured funding for, and managed the development of AI and analytics software across a range of industries. I am particularly interested to see (i) How AI is adopted, and the creative ways in which it used by normal (non-technical) people, and (ii) How policymakers tread the fine line between encouraging innovation and the responsible use of AI to benefit business and society. The #LSIEurope23 partnering app is now open! 📲 This week you’ll want to spend time making sure your profile is ready to go. This is the most important first step to successfully partnering at the event. Your profile will be the first thing attendees see when deciding to accept or decline your meeting request. (or send you a meeting request) So make sure to: → Add your headshot → Upload executive summaries, videos, slide deck, etc. (If applicable) → Update your profile setting, company profile and partnering interests. → Try to fill out every field to make your information more readily available to other attendees. Over 3500 partnering meetings took at our last event, so you’ll want to take full advantage of the app. We recommend getting your profile set up ASAP so other attendees can begin viewing your profile and sending you meeting requests as soon as they’re ready. Feel free to drop any partnering questions in the comments below! See you next month! #medtech

Digital Accessibility Manager at BT Group - EE Consumer Digital (Web and Mobile Standards, Universal Design, Best Practice, Digital Accessibility Programme Implementation)
Thanks to Steve Morland and the super team at Leighton for inviting me to participate in this amazing panel at TechNExt(The Tech Festival of the Northeast). I truly enjoyed discussing the subject with Daniel Benmore, Helen Robson , and James Lambert. The audience was also the best. You all made me feel welcome and relaxed. Also, thanks to Hayley Wood for the indication and Holli Taylor for the super organisation. And I couldn't leave out thanking for having a good excuse to visit Newcastle and seeing its stunning architecture. It's a positive development that we are increasingly being given platforms to discuss Digital Accessibility at mainstream events. This shift is a testament to the growing recognition of Digital Accessibility as a professional responsibility and not just a niche concern. We appreciate the work of champions. A good number of Digital Accessibility professionals, including myself, started as champions. But the work of Digital Accessibility professionals is not about being champions. It's a full-time job that demands a deep understanding of various domains, the ability to adapt to changing contexts, and a customer-centric approach that bridges design and engineering. We are a share capability, working collaboratively with every squad and teams. Our goal is to provide solutions that enhance the quality of digital products and ensure inclusivity for all, including people with disabilities. Organisations committed to Digital Accessibility must invest in accessibility by having a team of full-time professionals dedicated to this area. At EE Consumer, we are fortunate to have such a team. They make me proud of their hard work, commitment, resilience, enthusiasm, and cheerfulness - nothing like a good team to turn this rocky and stormy journey into an enjoyable adventure. Our profession lives and breathes on the original principles of the Web of democratising access to information. The web is an essential service, and we ensure that as many people as possible can access it, regardless of any differences. Having a job that gives us this sense of purpose is truly amazing. #a11y #DigitalAccessibility #Accessibility #Technology #North
